( MINGLE - WEEK 3 )
![]() The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it doesn't seem like there's anything out of the ordinary on this lovely Monday morning. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 3! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Without any murders we can't have a murdergame, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor! As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation |

[Jake is flopped over on the sofa, bored and stircrazy and tired and generally fed up with this whole thing. And apparently watching the TV playing static? That's where he's looking anyway.]
What type of show do you think this would play anyhoo?
[Wednesday | Diner]
[Understandably, Jake hasn't ventured far beyond the motel. It takes too much effort to get far and he's still tired, still in pain even with his medication. But he hates the quiet. He's used to having movies going almost all the time and the TVs at the motel don't work, so he's ventured back to the diner to enjoy some music. The song playing is, well, it's catchy at least even if it's a little odd.
He has a pad of paper and a pen out, kicking his intact leg back and forth as he studies whatever he's written down. When he notices you, he'll welcome you over.]
Do you want to ponder a mystery with me?
[Wildcard]
[Monday he'll be in his room most of the day though anyone is welcome to visit! Thursday he'll be spending almost the whole time with Dirk on the buddy system to uh. Not die. But you can hit me upon
Diner
Of course. What do you have there?

[Apollo takes out the Court Record, where he wrote some of the stuff from the role list they get to look at during the trials]
You know, I'm not sure yet what the Paranoid's role is supposed to mean, something about killing soulless beasts at night. I doubt that means the same than killing anyone who attacks them because that's what the Bomber does, so what does the Paranoid role do?
no subject
[And there's the problem that Dave fought a monster in the electrical room, despite the fact that the Paranoid should still be alive.]

Hm... Maybe something like The Twilight Zone? That seems to have the right kind of aesthetic.

wednesday
[ He's never been in the diner before, but he was tracking Jake down for something, he's usually cooped up in the motel for understandable reasons. Then the adventure bird flew the coop! Or... hobbled out. The music isn't bad though here. ]
By the way, here. They're from the hunting lodge's bookshelf-- I'll return them for you, don't worry about that.
[ He takes a chair and sits after setting down the books. They're on would-be wildlife and hunting expeditions of around here. The photos and illustrations actually look different from how it is now. ]

Oh, I love nature! It's comforting, reminds me of home.
[He sets the book down and realises that he was probably looking for him.]
Oh gosh, sorry you hauled these out here for me. I just needed to walk around a bit. Bedrest is tiring.
no subject
[ He's sympathetic to that problem, at least. His own friends from home are rambunctious and in general, too much bedrest is awful. IMPORTANT FOR RECOVERY... but still awful. ]
You seem to have found something to do, anyway.
no subject
It's just me not being able to stand being useless if I'm honest. I can't help this itch to do something.

wednesday
also jake only has one leg dipper can outrun himwhich is why he joins jake. he even tries to smile. It... doesn't look great, but listen, he's not going to complain to the guy who lost his leg???]
Sure. Related to this place, or nah?
no subject
Oh, yep! I've put other such puzzles on the backburner. Better to focus on the life-threatening mysteries, I think. I'm just trying to work out some of the roles.
no subject
Oh! I've been working on that too. What've you got so far?

She goes in not knowing who to expect and stops for a few moments to peer at Jake. She comes over after he beckons.] Okay. What kind of mystery?
You're Dirk's friend, right? Dave told me what you look like.
no subject
Oh, yes. Dirk's been my best friend for almost a decade now.
no subject
Since she hadn't seen them yet at the time.] Are you good at mysteries?
no subject
[He's glad people seem to like Dirk. He's seen Emily around and she seems very sweet, something Dirk could use right now.]
Oh but, well, I like to think I'm good at puzzles at least!
