SURVIVORS: 42

At 6:00 PM on the dot, everyone who has died during the ritual will awaken in their respective beds. Whole and unscathed, it would be far too easy to say that everything has been nothing but a fever dream. But the truth, as always, is far different from what the heart yearns for.

For the first time in five weeks, night falls over the City of Yuggoth.

The sun no longer hangs over your heads, its presence dark and oppressing. Instead, a soft, blue light shines down from the sky. It's not quite the moon, no. The Unclean's avatar is still visible in the sky, after all. But it's comforting. It's the promise of new beginnings, of newly forged bonds, and pacts that neither heaven nor hell are capable of tearing down. Does this singular moment in time make everything they've been through worth it? No, probably not. But this is the end. Their journey is over.

Now it's time for forty-one (41) individuals to choose their destination, while one (1) is left behind.

The unmarked room between the Kitchen (still wrecked — thanks, Tsurugi) and Laundry room is now open. Faceless men will be giving away baseball caps, pens, keychains and all the splendor of Yuggoth, as well as glossy photos taken throughout the ritual... for most, it will be a photo of their dead body and the manner in which they died. Yikes. A toy machine has also been left here, with a sign that reads TELEGRAM FUND: DEPOSIT YOUR CLUE TOKENS SO EVERYONE CAN CONTACT THEIR FRIENDS. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE ANDERSEN, SO DON'T ASK. - ABIGAIL.

Manning the Curio Shop won't be the only duties the faceless men have been relegated to, however. They'll be hunting down everyone but the new facilitator in order to give them a bus ticket. The destination and time of departure will be blank upon initially receiving it, but as soon as one thinks of where they want to go? Both fields will be filled in, and will be adjusted accordingly if anyone has a last minute change of heart. It seems like, in the end, it's up to the residents to decide whether to return home or to catch a ride with one of their new friends.

Starting from 6:00 AM on Tuesday morning (a fact only discernible thanks to the Grandfather clocks, as the sun refuses to rise again), double decker buses will roll by the motel to pick residents up. There will be several buses, each one remaining at the entrance for fifteen minutes and the next one arriving after an hour long interval. Bus tickets will refuse to change after the first bus has arrived, so try not to be too indecisive lest you wish to remain in this realm or strike a deal with the Unclean.

On the bright side, there are at least two to four days before everyone has returned home. May as well get those final goodbyes over with, right?

SURVIVORS: ??

The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors.

The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel.

And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Kitchen, Dining Hall and Disposal room are still under constructions. Meals will be served in the Pool/Outdoor Dining Area in the meantime. How quaint.




As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 5! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Without any murders we can't have a murdergame, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor!

Welcome to our first weekly mingle, everyone! Though these posts will ordinarily cover from Monday to Thursday, our first week will begin today, Sunday. It's a special occasion, after all! You may use this to top level, explore and continue to build that special CR. Given that this is the first week, we won't be accepting any murder proposals for now. SURVIVORS: 42

There's a rush of confusion as you awaken in a place you don't remember. The visuals in front of you don't quite catch up with your brain, as your mind tries to work through the foggy haze enveloping it. You smell cinnamon mixed with the foreign spices. You smell the zest of lemon but also the heartiness of a stew. These smells rouse you awake and with good reason.

When you open your eyes, you'll find someone has set you down at a dining chair. Those unfortunate to have woken up with their heads resting on the dinner table might find themselves with mashed potatoes in their hair, or perhaps marinara sauce up their nostrils. Either way, you will soon recognize your current location as a dining hall — only large enough to comfortably fit forty or so individuals. It's fairly dingy, a few lights flicker with a dying glow and there's some dust on the tablecloth. If you gaze around, it looks like you aren't alone. Among the assortment of food in front of you, there are easily at least 41 other people here... The faint sound of a piano carries in the air and a low gurgle of noise sounds behind you. A tall man in a waiter outfit leans forward, his face distorted with — with what? With nothing? It's as if his face never existed.

Don't stare too hard, he's only trying to pour you some sweet tea.

When everyone is properly awake (and perhaps properly alarmed), there's a sudden buzz of static and you hear a new voice echo over a PA system.

"Good morning and welcome to the Innsmouth Motel. You'll forgive me for my absence, I'm overseeing the preparations to assure everything is up to working order. It's been a little bit since we've had so many visitors. Please, enjoy your meals and if you have any questions... hold them until my arrival. You'll find underneath your napkin a key to your rooms. It would be wise to find those that you are sharing a living space with before I get there, I would hate to have to repeat myself."


The intercom shuts off and you're left alone. Be it the clamor of confusion and anger or the clanks of knives and forks on the porcelain plates... it looks like you'll have some time until your host shows his face. Though everyone is free to explore the motel, it seems like the fog is too thick in the area around the parking lot to truly permit you to leave. But at least there will be some light reading to be done once you enter your room.



Welcome to the arrival mingle, everyone! You may use this to top level, explore and start building that precious CR, but there will be no NPC interaction on this post. That will have to wait until Sunday, when Week 1 will officially begin. Similarly, characters will not learn of their personal roles until Sunday morning. The IC Profiles will not yet be available, but the IC Rulebook can be found in every motel room.
