( MINGLE - WEEK 5 )
![]() The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Kitchen, Dining Hall and Disposal room are still under constructions. Meals will be served in the Pool/Outdoor Dining Area in the meantime. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 5! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Without any murders we can't have a murdergame, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor! As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation |

[ In the afternoon, Knoll spends most of his time near the edge of the city, looking intently out at the fog, and within the City Hall. Though, he can be briefly found other places, outside of the motel.
He's a bit lost in his thought as he meanders, with seemingly little purpose--he's vaguely searching for the children, even though he knows that he should just wait a little longer. Everyone who has gone "missing" outside of murder shenanigans seems to have end up just fine. Mostly. ]
Tuesday; Library
[ Knoll can be found in the library today, sitting on the floor with books surrounding him in a disorderly pile. He's writing something on a piece of paper--he's using a book to make it easier to write on. He doesn't seem to react much if someone were to come closer, and if someone were to peek over his shoulder, they'd be able to see him doodling down just the symbols displayed all around the library. Nothing more, nothing less. ]
Do you know of the author named H.P. Lovecraft--and if you do, would you happen to know if he was a scientist as well?
Wednesday morning; Botanical Garden
[ The dark mage enters into the garden at some point, collecting a few flowers on hand...or perhaps a little more than a few given how many he was holding. However, even though five had recently passed last week as victims, there was easily more than six flowers he's gathered in total.
He seems rather distracted. ]
Wildcard
[ If someone wants to go for a different option than those listed, feel free! ]
Tuesday
[Akane recites the information in a dull tone, not facing Knoll directly. She looks very tired.]

It's easy to tell how tired she is--he wouldn't be surprised. This week is...particularly hard, even right now. This is why it's the best time for distractions. ]
I was wondering if he had something to do with an "HP Formula"; it could be a coincidence that the first two letters are the same as his beginning initials, but...

[ ...He wonders briefly if his cluelessness is because of differences in the ... general everything in comparison from where he's come. ]
Does it have to do with some form of technology I'm unfamiliar with?
no subject
[There's a little more life in her voice now. Yay for explaining things!]
Horsepower is a unit of measurement used to compare the output of mechanical engines based on draft horses, though these days most countries use the watt instead. Basically, one metric horsepower equals the power required to lift 75 kilograms by one meter in one second.
no subject
[ He then nods at her explanation... ]
So, it was a formula created to make already existing technology more efficient, from what I'm understanding. Thank you for your help, Akane--though it seems to not have been as significant as I may have thought. I'm sure the individual who developed the formula was.

wednesday
He debates whether or not he should say anything, but he supposes that skulking around wordlessly might look suspicious, given the situation at hand. And so, a few steps forward, and he says-]
You look tired.
[And distracted.]
no subject
[ It would, though, if Light had not made mention of his appearance by speaking up, there was a chance that he wouldn't even have noticed. When he turns to face the brunette, the amount of apparent weariness is still evident (along with a touch of paleness.) ]
I imagine that at the very least, I'm not the only one who looks like this. It's been a long week, and it seems that there is little to do at this point to make it easier. Though, if you have any ideas, I'd gladly listen.
no subject
Ideas? Distractions, mostly. Or, if you can, a good amount of sleep should keep you recharged.
[A beat.]
But it won't do anything about changing the circumstances we're in, unfortunately. However, rest will at least keep you focused.
Are you... picking flowers?
no subject
[ Knoll isn't unappreciative of the man's words, though--even if he knew an answer like that was obvious. Maybe this was some form of distraction...from the bloodied form--
He'll then nod at the question. ]
I was thinking of adding to the memorial on the second floor. It was something to do, and it couldn't really hurt. I've done it before, but with last week's commotion it slipped my mind to do so until now. However, even if it doesn't necessarily require much effort, it may be best that I have some company while I do this. And if you have any suggestions for anything more fitting for them, I won't mind.
no subject
Maybe you can suggest a flower that I should pick to add to the memorial?
no subject
Sunflowers are fairly common, so if you can find one, it would be good for the memorial. It could also be good for representation of some of those who passed...as we did have a few bright personalities among us at one time.
no subject
[Sunflowers. Easy, recognizable enough. Light waves a hand in a direction, gesturing for Knoll to follow if he likes.
In the meanwhile, idle conversation.]
There were definitely the more energetic types among us. [A pause.] L'arachel was my roommate, as you know. It's strange to wake up in the morning and not hear her voice.
[....screaming at him.]
no subject
Oh, I see. I've never been privy to what Princess L'arachel was like in the early mornings, but I imagine that even then she was very excitable...? Or at least, very chipper, I'd imagine.
[ Poor Light. ]

[A little... blandly:]
She tried to kick me out of the room every day.

I was just trying to learn a little more about him. I also would like to discuss what we've managed to figure out some more...and try to make some sense of it.
Would you mind?

Though... I suppose it's really hard to say, given the lack of information.
...But tell me, what do you think of their so-called naming certain things--such as simple things in nature like the lake and man-made buildings--as blessings? I thought it was quite far-fetched for me to believe that they were actual 'blessings' given unto them by their so-called religion.
Then, the other topic I wanted to discuss are those so-called Unclean. What is your impression of them, exactly? Besides, of course, obvious outright disgust.

I honestly don't know much about her. All I know is that she was a prior resident of Yuggoth, who made research into the HP formula and apparently wound up donated to the city with her, er..."foundation".
[ ... Which doesn't sound good, but what else is new about this place. ]
