( MINGLE - WEEK 5 )
![]() The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Kitchen, Dining Hall and Disposal room are still under constructions. Meals will be served in the Pool/Outdoor Dining Area in the meantime. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 5! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Without any murders we can't have a murdergame, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor! As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation |

[ His eyes flicker over to Dirk. ]
... Dirk, right? Do you mind if I ask you a question?

Go for it.

Do you believe it is possible to fight against fate, and be able to change a predetermined, unfortunate outcome? Or, do you believe it to be a senseless waste of time? And that we should...lay down and accept whatever comes to us?

Choosing an honest answer.]
Hope isn't really my thing. That's Jake's department, but I never really had much to spare. I always operated on the idea that I need to do it, so I'll put everything I have into that even if it amounts to nothing. Back home, I did that and it did amount to nothin'. So I just let myself fade out.
[That's how he came here. A glitched up mess. No hope, no future. An eternal hell of being alive and miserable and alone, because he could not die, and his only hope was being turned into nothing.]
I'd rather not do that again. We have nothing to lose if there is no way to change the outcome. At least we can try to give that fate a bad time before it takes us.

[ He'll smile again, albeit weakly. ]
Thank you, Dirk. I can only hope that we can continue to do our best, no matter what happens...it wouldn't be right just to simply give up, even if...even if our situation is so bleak. And perhaps in our attempts, there could be at least something rewarding about that.
[ Well, that's all for now. He stands up, clutching the paper still. ]
There's something I need to take care of...but hopefully I will see you again soon.
