( MINGLE - WEEK 3 )
![]() The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it doesn't seem like there's anything out of the ordinary on this lovely Monday morning. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 3! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Without any murders we can't have a murdergame, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor! As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation |

INFORMATION SHARING; TUESDAY, DINING HALL
well, skip to the next morning. it's a mostly typical breakfast in the dining hall. you may or may not be seated at the table, but these three certainly are.
percival clears his throat, only to then stand up. ]
We've something to share -- if you're willing to listen.
Yesterday morning, Hajime, Quer and I ventured into the burned building most central to the town. In there, we encountered monsters; large insects that spewed fire.
[ he holds out his arms, and then gestures to hajime and quer. ]
What they're capable of should be evident enough.
We discovered more than that, however. The building itself seemed to have once housed children, and it led to a destroyed cathedral of some sort. It's as though there had been a civilization...compromised of creatures like Craftly.
[ percival looks towards quer, and then hajime. ]
We brought something back for you to see. Any bit of information helps if we intend of figuring out what exactly's happening to us.

Sooo... like, um, Innsmouth? Or rather, I mean— see there's a movie, Dagon, but it's based on The Shadow Over Innsmouth, a short story apparently. [Jake has not actually read Lovecraft but he's seen a couple of movies?] The townsfolk in the story took to sacrifices and worship of vile fish beasts in exchange for riches and prosperity. But uh, it didn't go that well.

We found a book with... the creation myth they follow, I think. And it was similar to that. It saaaaaid something about life being dirty and death being clean? It all sounded like Yuggoth was made to cleanse people, maybe...? But you guessed everything we read I think. The book got burned up and maybe the church is still on fire so don't go looking for it.

Cleanse people, huh? Well, I don't think that popped up in any movies I've seen, but it might be in the books. [They need to find a nerd quickly.] What do we need cleansing of?

bible study.
"In the beginning, when It created the universe, the earth was formless and desolate. The raging ocean that covered everything was engulfed in total darkness, and the Unclean was moving over the water. In Its divinity across the expanse of the universe, there would be no other like it. Not like this realm. It is here that It allows the First Blessing inland. From the puddle, there was life, all by It's command. It was pleased. The land became more than soil, fulfilled with the prospect of life. It was harmonious."
[sitting back down, she puts the paper in front of her.]
That's what it says. There was more there, about Yuggoth and some leader, but the pages fell apart before we could take them.

"It?" What do you think this "It" is?

'Some leader'...? I don't suppose you would happen to remember anything about what it said concerning that?

[Mabel shudders]
Don't keep me in suspense! What did you find?

[ he gestures to quer, and the bible page that's been laid out. ]
That. It seems as though we're a part of something much grander than we thought. In the cathedral, we uncovered a small school...or rather, remains of one. Above it was a church, I believe. Stained glass depicting creatures like Craftly.
I suppose he's only one of many.

H u h! How spooky. Maybe that's what all the mother stuff was about... [though she still doesn't understand how Gideon factored into this] How come we only saw him, though? Are the other Craftlys just hanging out with giant bugs in the church or something?

[ a grimace, and then a scowl. ]
And if we do nothing, we'll simply be resigning ourselves to a grim fate. We need to uncover the truth if we want to do anything about our circumstances.
You make a fair point, though: not everyone should be venturing about the town. But that's why I'm here -- so others mustn't.

[and that's what matters. don't lecture them when you and Jake partied with skeletons.]
I'm not going to sit and preen and do nothing. We can die if we do nothing as well. At least we'd choose our deaths that way, and by going in a group of three, we balanced the odds a little bit. I want answers - don't you want them too?

[ like, someone just died yesterday. hajime lays her head on the table, looking up at andersen with knitted brows. ]
That's just how this place is. We have to fight back somehow.

I'm glad the three of you made it out alive. What you did was very brave - do you need anything for the pain?
[weed. she's talking about weed.]
Human children or child creatures? Are we intruders in their world or are they in ours?
no subject
If they're trying to be heroes through the pain, don't let them. These hurt.
[and Hajime's the worst of them all. weed might come in handy here, just saying.]
The statues were of adults, I'd say. Human creatures, except for the tentacles. I don't know what was under the robes.
