( MINGLE - WEEK 3 )

SURVIVORS: 36

The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors.

The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel.

And speaking of the motel, it doesn't seem like there's anything out of the ordinary on this lovely Monday morning. How quaint.

As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 3! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Without any murders we can't have a murdergame, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor!

As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions!

[Two days of mostly being in bed is all Jake can stomach so he's down here for breakfast, paying equal amounts of attention to a pile of pancakes and to Percival.]

Sooo... like, um, Innsmouth? Or rather, I mean— see there's a movie, Dagon, but it's based on The Shadow Over Innsmouth, a short story apparently. [Jake has not actually read Lovecraft but he's seen a couple of movies?] The townsfolk in the story took to sacrifices and worship of vile fish beasts in exchange for riches and prosperity. But uh, it didn't go that well.

Uh. [ hajime isn't actually eating. her stomach can barely handle soup at the moment, and the bowl in front of her has barely been touched. it's a work in progress. ]

We found a book with... the creation myth they follow, I think. And it was similar to that. It saaaaaid something about life being dirty and death being clean? It all sounded like Yuggoth was made to cleanse people, maybe...? But you guessed everything we read I think. The book got burned up and maybe the church is still on fire so don't go looking for it.

[Oh no Hajime. He's worried but it looks like she's trying her best to eat what she can, so he won't push her at the moment.]

Cleanse people, huh? Well, I don't think that popped up in any movies I've seen, but it might be in the books. [They need to find a nerd quickly.] What do we need cleansing of?

Rachel has mentioned the books as well. The settings and motifs appear to align.

The book we discovered also noted that their Elderly God provided the sick with medicine and the poor with riches -- you're onto something. Perhaps a sacrifice truly was made here...and we may be one ourselves.

As for the cleansing...the Uncleanliness was what they called it. Could they mean corruption or sin?

[He frowns.] Sin or corruption makes sense. Loads of people think humans are born with that, right? [A beat as he thinks further.] Though, judging by the look of the town, it doesn't seem like much is left to sacrifice for. The only people we've seen are Craftly and the staff.

[Which he is. Unsure of what to really call them. He does not think they are true residents.]
