SURVIVORS: 40 The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint. Welcome to Week 2's mingle, everyone! As of this week, we are now accepting murder proposals. Monday Evening- Big Belly Diner

[coming from the diner in the afternoon, one might here the dulcet sound of Icelandic pop singer sensation BABBA and her greatest hit: "Disco Girl". Also, there's a twelve year old boy singing along. Spoiler: it's Dipper. He's up on what's left of the counter, seemingly trying to check what's up behind it? Or maybe he's looking at the ceiling? It's hard to tell, but he is definitely just ... singing as he works.]

Tuesday - Lobby

[anyone passing by the lobby will be overjoyed to overhear an argument between literal babies, because Dipper and Mabel are being Loud, standing in the middle of the lobby with what appears to be half-drawn party invitations and a couple of birthday hats made from paper:]

I’m telling you, we’re thirteen already!

And I’m telling you, time was stopped in Gravity Falls, which is the only dimension that matters, so we can’t be thirteen!

[Mabel rolls her eyes and gives Dipper a little shove]

Ummm, then why is it Tuesday when yesterday was Monday? Time is obviously moving, here! And we’re here, so this is the dimension that matters! Duh doy!

[Dipper gives her a little shove right back]

If time is moving why doesn’t the sun ever set? Just because they’re changing dates doesn’t mean time is passing here! --And even ignoring all the time stuff, do you really think this is the time for a party?!

Quit being such a nerd, Dipper! All times are for partying, that’s why the phrase “party time” exists!

[Finally, the twins notice you standing there and turn to look at you expectantly, though Dipper seems mostly flustered]

[dipper throws his arms up in the air in exasperation] Mabel!

Wednesday Morning - Lounge

[on a table in the lounge is one Dipper Pines, sitting down and studiously doing his... home...work? Wait, what? It's hard to see if this is what he's doing, but it sure looks like it: he's surrounded by pens, papers, notebooks, a school ruler and even worse; graph paper. The absolute horror. Currently, he's also angrily mashing a ... calculator?

And now he's angrily talking to it. Oh boy. That's normal.]

What's the point of a calculator that doesn't even work properly!? I can't believe I gave this place two stars for this!

[that seems like a you problem, dipper. might want to. stop talking so loudly. and being a nerd so loudly. and ... looking like you're seconds away from crying over a calculator?

Besides I don't think time's passing. I don't know much about the stories Lovecr--that author wrote, but it wouldn't be a stretch to think we're in some kind of zone with frozen time, right? Like in that series, the Dusk Zone.

[If Rocko instead of Rocky and Claw of the Tiger instead of Eye of the Tiger exist in the AA universe, who says other distortions of popular stuff doesn't?

[because if y'all thought we were just joking about having dipper shoot yukina, idk what to tell you

So anyway, here's Yukina. She's about the furthest thing you can get from a hunter (let's be real, she'd probably cry enough jewels for to eliminate a country's national debt if she had to shoot a bunny for food), but it's Tuesday afternoon and she's a little restless, and she thinks that going to the hunting lodge won't kill her.

So, while she's looking around, she makes the monumentally unsound decision of heading into the shooting range without first giving warning to whoever's in there. She doesn't think anyone will be there, actually, so when she sees someone, she gasps.]

Ah-?!

[Here's hoping she doesn't startle him too badly!]

[Dipper has handled ... gun-shaped items a few times, but no real guns. He was in the midst of observing the weapons in the hunting lodge, specifically the firing range, holding one in his hand and trying to see if it was loaded while also absolutely not knowing how to check if a gun is loaded. He is a child from California, damn it. He's also hyper aware of both sounds and the fact that some people are apparently missing now, so unfortunately, Yukina's gasp is enough to trigger his paranoid, easily startled butt, which is why he turns around wildly, flailing to grasp the gun as it slips from his hold before it falls to the ground.]

S-stay back!!!

[his voice squawked horribly, but it might be hard to hear since Dipper does manage to catch the gun before it falls! He catches it awkwardly right by the trigger! Good news, that answers the question of whether the gun was loaded! Luckily for Dipper, it's just a blank. Unluckily for Dipper, it is a blank shot straight at Yukina. Unluckily for both of them, they do not know it's a blank.

Dipper just. screams and drops the gun immediately]

Oh my gosh omigosh oh no, oh no--

[will yukina die? vote now on your phones.]

[Yukina has approximately .02 seconds to feel a little guilty for startling him before the gun goes off.

It's been a long while since she last heard a gunshot. At least it's only one, this time, and not the onslaught that's been replaying itself over and over again in her mind ever since Monday. But it catches her by complete surprise, and she's just close enough for it to do a little damage.

"A little," in that she's not bleeding, but it sure as hell will leave a nasty bruise. Yukina drops to the ground, mostly out of surprise, and puts one hand down to steady herself. The other, trembling, comes to her stomach to feel for the injury.]

It's... [She's still alive? Slowly, she draws her hand away from her stomach, and she stares down at it. Her hands are clean... no blood.] ...it's okay... I think.

[He only shot her a little bit.

[dipper is nothing but guilt, meanwhile, rushing to her side and hovering next to her while looking terrified of actually touching]

Are you okay? Omigosh I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it, I didn't even think they were loaded-- who leaves loaded weapons unattended??? Or, well, I guess they weren't because you're not bleeding, or dead, and oohhhh man I almost killed you. I think I'm going to barf. Oh boy. Oh that's not good.

[he reaches out a hand like he wants to steady her without ever actually touching her]

Can you. Can you walk? You're not going to just start bleeding spontaneously, right? I don't actually know how gunshot wounds work, I've never seen one outside of the movies. Are you sure you're fine??

[this is the opposite of helping.]

Yukina looks up in concern, wincing a little at the sudden movement - yes, that is most definitely going to bruise. But that's not important right now; it's not a fatal wound. If Dipper's going to be sick, though...]

If you're going to be ill, please don't worry about me. We should-

[She shifts a little to get to her feet.]

We should get you somewhere to lie down, if you're feeling sick...

[She totally latched onto the wrong thing there. She's fine, this is fine, she doesn't want to see a kid get sick to his stomach.]

Everyone always underestimates how useful math can be in any situation. Except. [he starts to jab at it] This one is useless so! there's! no! point! to it!!!

[ MATTER OF FACT, honestly. She watches him jab at it and ultimately react in such a dramatic way. Chiaki knows he's upset, so she waves to whoever the heck is manning the little lounge area. A glass of apple cider is set between them and Chiaki nudges it to him. ]

Calm down for a second. Maybe I can help? Math may not be the answer if you're having this much problem... it's okay. There can be other solutions, isn't that part of math itself?

It's not about the math. I wasn't even trying to use math on anything yet. [also, if he's honest, asking for the calculator was just to have stuff he usually has with him, but he's not gonna say that.] It's just this whole... place.
