( MINGLE - WEEK 2 )
![]() The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint. Welcome to Week 2's mingle, everyone! As of this week, we are now accepting murder proposals. If you're interested in having your character murder someone this week, please send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. We'll be contacting you on plurk over the week to finalize the details, or ask for rescheduling if necessary. As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation |

[ Seriously, she's curious. The boy is talking super loud and she was just trying to enjoy an apple juice in peace. But, Chiaki closes her own notebook (????) and scoots over to him for a moment. ]
Is it relevant to what's going on...?
no subject
No. [yeesh. don't snap at strangers. he huffs out a breath] I mean, it's not not relevant. Or, well, it could be relevant at some point? Or at least useful. Everyone always underestimates how useful math can be in any situation. Except. [he starts to jab at it] This one is useless so! there's! no! point! to it!!!
[PUSHES IT TO THE GROUND]

[ MATTER OF FACT, honestly. She watches him jab at it and ultimately react in such a dramatic way. Chiaki knows he's upset, so she waves to whoever the heck is manning the little lounge area. A glass of apple cider is set between them and Chiaki nudges it to him. ]
Calm down for a second. Maybe I can help? Math may not be the answer if you're having this much problem... it's okay. There can be other solutions, isn't that part of math itself?

[dipper takes his cider and nurses it like one would an actual alcoholic drink. Like an old man at a bar, regretting his life choices. Dipper, you're 12. He grumbles into his drink:]
It's not about the math. I wasn't even trying to use math on anything yet. [also, if he's honest, asking for the calculator was just to have stuff he usually has with him, but he's not gonna say that.] It's just this whole... place.
[eloquent.]

[ She leans onto the counter with her elbows, thinking thoughtfully. ]
You shouldn't be too hard on yourself. You're doing better than others if you're worrying this hard and trying to find a way out.

That's what is probably bothering you most... or at least making us weaker-willed. They've been getting worse but, if you turn the static on at night, it drowns them out a bit. Maybe you should try that?
[ CHIAKI WITH THE BAD SUGGESTIONS. ]

[ She smiles, waving her hand for a glass of juice herself. ]
If they get bad, try counting to 100.
