( MINGLE - WEEK 5 )
![]() The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Kitchen, Dining Hall and Disposal room are still under constructions. Meals will be served in the Pool/Outdoor Dining Area in the meantime. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 5! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Without any murders we can't have a murdergame, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor! As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation |

[Kaito is sitting outside the library today]
[literally. outside the library, his back leaning up against the wall, legs spread out and covering one of the many sigils surrounding the building. he has. . . well. he has an opened box of Connect Four sitting next to him, and is currently playing himself (also: he's winning). as usual, the arm of his injured shoulder is resting in a sling, and honestly? that sling probably isn't going anywhere anytime soon.]
[if anyone gives him weird looks or asks him what he's doing, he'll just shrug and continue on with his game like nothing out of the ordinary is happening, here]
The motel's too loud with all the construction, and the inside of the library is too stinky. I needed to find some peace and quiet somewhere.
. . . don't look at me like that.
thursday - botanical garden
[this is the worst night terror of them all]
Ao--!
[anyone hanging around the gardens today can hear that strangled, aborted cry, considering how loud it was. investigating it will reveal Kaito, standing near the fountain, the hand of his good arm clutching the edges of it so tightly his knuckles are white. his eyes are shut tight, head bowed, brows furrowed. at his feet are a few scattered roses and irises. he's been collecting them]
Damn it, she's not even here. . .
[he mumbles to himself as he releases the side of the fountain and scrubs at his face. get yourself together, Kuroba]
wildcard
[hit me up at
tuesday
[gosh, shady, get it right. Luckily for Dipper, his judging stare remains unaffected by there being one less eye to judge, so he just squints at the game]
Sooo. Who's winning? Kaito or Kid?
[...that joke was bad]
no subject
[fortunately, Kaito just snorts as his mouth curves into a smile]
Kaito, actually. You wanna play the winner?
no subject
Sure. I'm warning you, though, I'm pretty good at board games. [a beat] Also you can't make fun of me if I miss the holes because my depth perception is shot.
]he's joking. mostly. probably.]
no subject
[tips the holey board. . . thing. . . upside down to release all of the chips, handing dipper black while he keeps red]
[also he gives the younger kid a sympathetic glance out of the corners of his vision while he sorts the two colors]
So. . . how're you feeling today?
no subject
Now you're asking for it, buster. I'm going to kick your butt straight into losertown. [but the actual concern seems to take him for a loop and he.. shrugs sheepishly] Like there's a giant hole in my face and I don't want to acknowledge it.
no subject
Okay. Let's not acknowledge it.
And I haven't visited Losertown in years, so don't think you're gonna send me packing with a one-way ticket that easily.

tuesday - library;
Don't look at you like what?
[ His smile was a bit soft, a bit of confusion there genuine, but something about Kaito's words amused him just a tad. ]
no subject
[but it is weird, Kaito. he sighs, and gestures for Knoll to take a seat next to him]
no subject
[ ... sorry you're getting a taste of Knoll's small bit of amusement. He'll take a seat next to Kaito, though. ]
I've never played a game like this before. What are the rules?
no subject
The goal is to connect four of the same color, while preventing your opponent from doing the same. That's about it, honestly. S'pretty simple.
Wanna play?
no subject
Yes, I'd like to. I found that I've taken a liking to strategy games...perhaps sometime we should play a game of chess together?
[ He picks up a piece. ]
no subject
'Course. I'm a pretty darn good chess player, if I do say so myself.
[hoarding the red pieces for himself, Kaito deposits one into the holey game board]

tuesday
[But he takes a closer look at what Kaito's doing. Some kind of game, huh...?]
... You must be bored.
no subject
Just a little. It's easy to get bored in a place like this one.
Sit down if you want to play, although I'm calling red.
no subject
He also doesn't know how to play, anyway??]
no subject
[BUDDY]
You're supposed to connect four chips of the same color, while simultaneously blocking your opponent from doing the same.
[at least he was able to read that blank expression]
no subject
Girge pauses, analyzing the game and trying to determine how complex it could be in spite of its simple rules, because otherwise, this just sounds really stupid. Also:]
Doesn't seem like much of a game you can play by yourself...
no subject
I am playing it by myself though, right?
-- actually, don't respond to that.

tuesday
Yikes. Are you playing by yourself? All the way out here?
[Kaito, no]
At least bury your sorrows in arts and crafts!
no subject
Arts and crafts seems to be more your specialty than mine.
no subject
Exactly why I can continue my teachings. Didn't you like that friendship bracelet?
no subject
I did, but I've gotta admit: I'm a one friendship bracelet at a time kind of person.
no subject
[but also, his game is sad]
Or I guess I could play your game so you're not just playing by yourself like a dork.
no subject
[pats the ground next to him so she can sit down and play as well]
Connect Four is kinda boring when you play it by yourself.
