SURVIVORS: 32 The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the buildings surrounding the motel, it seems like the Library is now open. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 4! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. [ it's said jokingly, but then his tone turns more serious. ]

[not even wanting to waste any more energy on bickering with him, she shakily holds his hand out to him, the rest of her body still curled up. like mentioned previously, bandages are wrapped tightly around her palm, the middle of it darkened red on both sides.]

[ninjay]

[ he just stares at the bandages before reaching out to take her hand in his... to immediately start undoing them. he wants to see the damage, gurl. ]

What mess have you gotten yourself into...

[wristbands]

[she'll let the wound explain the "mess" for itself.

when he unwraps the bandage, he'll see that her hand is, for lack of a better phrase, fucked up. the gash that runs through her hand is deep, enough to have gone through entirely. splintered bone juts out of her palm, angled even stranger than a piece of bone sticking out of someone's hand should be—probably as a result of her shoving the faceless man.]

[ chie what the fuck ]

Please explain to me why you would refuse help from someone when you're in this condition?

[ this is... bad. ]

Do you have any painkillers? We need to get you a new bandage.

[wristbands]

I got help—[pause for more groaning]—f... forgot to not put any pressure on it. [she breathes deeply again] I'm all out of my own painkillers.

[ninjay]

Right. I'll be back.

[ he runs off and

[and they're back with an appropriate amount of painkillers

like a lot]

[ he also has fresh bandages and disenfictant and shit. ]

We can't stitch this with the bone like that...

[in the interim, she has chilled a reasonable amount. like, she's obviously still in an immense amount of pain, but she's together enough to react in surprise when the two of them show up, and joke,]

W-wow, what are the chances of both of you coming... together...

[another surge of pain cuts her off from making any more glib comments.]

I'm not a doctor, but I think you should leave being funny to people who aren't critically injured.

[he's handing her the painkillers and he's holding a glass of water he is going to make her drink. no dry swallowing in this house]

This would be easier if it was stigmata, which is a sentence I literally never thought I'd have to say once in my life. [he bites at his lip] Is there any way we can fix her bone with the stuff we have in this place?

[ninjay]

It would be much easier if someone didn't kill our only medical professional.

[ fuck off mira ]

I think the bone is sticking out too much to require anything less than surgery.

[wristbands]

Th... thanks.

[with considerable effort, she pushes herself up with her good hand and slumps against the front desk. after she's taken the painkillers, she wipes her mouth and whips her head toward jay when he says "surgery."]

I mean, I was doing just fine with having it wrapped up... y'know, before I messed up.

[what are y'all suggesting]

[gestures at her hand]

That? That is not fine. What is wrong with you people. Take the painkillers.

[pointedly shoving them at her]

We can't do surgery, but an open wound like that with the exposed bone is not... good.

[ninjay]

I know. We shouldn't even be moving the bone around in general, we'll probably cause nerve damage. [ he grimaces. ] Which she probably already has, but I don't want to make it worse.

[ he'll start cleaning the wound at least, as carefully as possible.

[wristbands]

[once again, whatever quip she had prepared goes out the window once jay starts tending to the wound. as soon as he touches the area around the gash, however gently he does it, chie screams in pain, wrenching her hand out of his grasp. looks like it's more serious than even she initially thought. she also hasn't been putting pressure on it since it happened, so. whoops.]

[pinesfortruth]

[he yelps and takes a step back because he is 12 and this is messed up, but then immediately:]

Yeah that's definitely the sound a person who's fine makes-- at least let her take painkillers first, Jay!!

[ninjay]

What part of you shouldn't be moving around did you not get?!

[ okay, right. he takes a deep breath. ]

Take some pills and then give me your hand again. If you yank it away I will tell Mabel put a sticker on it and call it a day. Understand?

[wristbands]

I didn't expect it—[a hiss]—to hurt that badly... ugh...

[sweat is now beading down her skin, and her wound has started bleeding again thanks to her kneejerk reaction.]

Dammit... h-how long does it take for painkillers to kick in?

[pinesfortruth]

I don't know?? [he is 12 and doesn't exactly pop pills that often] How did you not expect it to hurt your BONE is exposed, do you have any idea how bad that is???

[he is officially unhelpful]

[ jay just stares at her hand for a very long moment. he's not a medical expert, but he's seen enough injuries over the years to tell when something is Very Bad. ]

Chie, what are your thoughts on being one handed?

[wristbands]

[suddenly, all her pain is out the window as she straightens up, staring wide eyed at jay, then at dipper, then at jay once again.]

Excuse me?

[pinesfortruth]

JAY?????

[isn't that a bit. drastic.]

I mean I know bone exposure is bad but is it THAT bad?????

[why is he here he's TWELVE]

[ninjay]

We can't close the wound with the bone sticking out like that, but I highly doubt anyone here would be able to do the type of surgery that would require setting the bone back in correctly. She's going to get an infection if it stays like this though, and if it gets bad enough then not only will we have to amputate, but she is going to feel a hell lot worse than she does now.

[ so, you know. your choice. ]

[hi guys, so. Kaito checked up on Chie earlier, but let her be once she refused medical attention. he just got finished fussing over Akira, so he's back to check on Chie again, only to find??? this???]

[WHAT THE FUCK GUYS]
