( MINGLE - WEEK 4 )
![]() The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the buildings surrounding the motel, it seems like the Library is now open. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 4! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Remember that we can't have a murdergame without any murders, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor. As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation |

[ just like yukina, jay can't help but return to the library. after all, they almost died horribly getting it open, so it would be a shame not to actually get a decent look around.
he pauses by fluffy, the now headless monster. jay stares at it for a moment, frowning, before moving on to an area that will probably smell less terrible. ]
tuesday morning, clinic
[ if you decide to venture into the clinic today, you'll find jay there! he's poking through the supplies, muttering under his breath. his sleeve is rolled up, revealing the bite marks that still look pretty ugly. the dozen or so identical, curved cuts still surrounded the bites, all neatly stitched,
for whatever reason he keeps stopping to poke at these, paying more attention to them than the bites. whatever. ]
wednesday evening, lounge
[ jay can be found sitting in one of the chairs, twirling a smoke pipe in his hand. he's staring at it very intently. ]
I have no idea why I promised her that I'd keep it.
TUESDAY
Your wounds seem to be recovering, at least. Are you looking for something in particular?
no subject
I don't think any of this is going to help me.

no subject
I'm not really sure. I've been using disinfectant on the bites, at least.

[ suddenly, his eyes flutter shut. it's a burst of drowsiness, and the man has spontaneously fallen asleep (while standing up) midspeech. give it a minute and he shakes his head, eyes opening again. ]
...As I was saying, I have antiseptic and an arrangement of creams — some of which are... [ yawn. ] used for inflammation and irritation of the skin. What exactly's ailing you?

Lounge
[Maybe you got attached to Mira]

[ he gestures at the pipe. ]

You wouldn't be a good Sherlock Holmes. You lack...something.
[And the side ponytail doesn't help]
Why did she want to dress you up like him?
no subject
I don't know. She thought it was funny? [ ... ] He doesn't exist where I'm from, so when she mentioned him and I had no idea what she was talking about, it became a joke.
no subject
[Better that than being told to dress up as a random fictional character]
If you don't want the pipe I could take it from you. I don't smoke, but if that helps then I'll do it.

wednesday
Then break the promise.
no subject
[ as in, he needs to be extra about it. ]
I regret not throwing it in the lake, but I was too distracted by Jake to think of it.
no subject
I guess you could always toss it in next time.
no subject
[ he nods his head at least. ]
It would have been better during her execution though.
no subject
Were you... Friends with her? Or something?

tuesday
she tuts at Jay when she sees him prodding at the cuts, though, sounding displeased.]
You'll only agitate your wounds that way. [no one asked you, l'arachel]
no subject
[ it's said very dryly.
however, he does actually stop poking at it to instead focus on seeing what hasn't been stolen. ]
no subject
apparently she's content enough to have him finish prodding his own cuts to stride over and examine the supplies with him like she was invited or something?? she was not]
There's hardly anything of use left in here... Were you looking for something?
no subject
[ he also wants a doctor, but some people just had to go on a murder spree :/ ]
wednesday
Then throw it away.
no subject
[ his tone doesn't match his words, like he doesn't actually believe what he's saying (he does believe though). ]
no subject
That sounds less than convincing.
[ He's going to lean back and fold his arms over his chess. ]
It can't be sentimental value, you've known her less than a month.
no subject
[ probably closer to socio-, actually, but it's not really the time to debate that over someone who's dead.
there's a pause, like he really is considering how to answer, and he eventually settles for some truth. ]
A promise really is something that you should be accountable for. I'd feel a little bad for breaking it.
[ not bad enough to not break it entirely though. ]
no subject
I'm fairly certain that you've at least gained amnesty for breaking this particular promise, considering that she's no longer alive.
Throw it. It's not like you will have any use for it anyway.
[ #practicality. ]
