SURVIVORS: ?? The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Kitchen, Dining Hall and Disposal room are still under constructions. Meals will be served in the Pool/Outdoor Dining Area in the meantime. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 5! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. [ he looks towards light, and it takes a few blinks for him to actually focus on him instead of just blearily looking in light's direction.

this is not a good #look and he knows it. ]

Oh. I didn't hear you come in.

[Not good, no. He frowns, and one might wonder how he manages to seem so... unaffected. Perhaps it'd be telling, if Jay had more clarity of mind at the moment.

Regardless, he steps forward, knowing that something is off. It doesn't take an observant genius to tell that much.]

It's getting to you, isn't it?

[He's experienced them too, but since Light's empathy is a rather dead thing, they've been annoyances at best. Occasionally detracting from his focus, but little else.]

[ninjay]

[ jay can be a bit of an asshole, especially to those he doesn't care about. and honestly, he does not care about most people. but the ones that he does? he cares a lot. but he's stubborn and refuses to stay in his room all day. he probably should have. ]

It may be a little more difficult to ignore than others have been.

[godly]

[Here's that sticking point, then. Empathy. Light's level of caring for Jay's woes vacillates weakly at a low level -- but that's how he feels about practically everyone.

Pretending to care is easy enough, at least.]

...Do you want to talk about it?

[ninjay]

Not really.

[ he probably should, as he has heard talking about feelings is good for you. but also, no. ]

It won't make it stop, right? There's no point.

[godly]

Maybe not. But they say talking about what's bothering you is therapeutic.

[Whoever "they" might be, he's not sure he agrees with them. But Light will at least extend the offer, because it seems like the decent thing to do.]

Getting it all off your chest, or so they say. This week is... particularly bad for a lot of people.

This does seem like a step above last week's.

[ well, maybe not to other people. as jay had actual body horror afflicted onto him the week prior to last, the hallucinations did not bother him as much last time. ]

[godly]

[Laughably, Light prefers this week as opposed to the body horrors of last time.]

The body count keeps rising. People are getting anxious -- arguing amongst themselves. In some ways, it feels like everything is starting to slowly unravel.

[ninjay]

It's not too surprising, especially considering the body count was higher last weekend than before, and we haven't caught the killers.

[ plus the cases from previous weeks where they didn't catch everyone. ]

[godly]

Not surprising, but not very good for morale, either.

[He moves close enough to where he's only a yard away.]

You should find something to distract yourself with.

[ninjay]

That's why I came here. I wanted to find a quiet place to read.

[ light may notice that there's a book tucked under jay, being very much ignored right now. ]
