SURVIVORS: ?? The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Kitchen, Dining Hall and Disposal room are still under constructions. Meals will be served in the Pool/Outdoor Dining Area in the meantime. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 5! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. He's the fifth Empyrean, and he only resurfaced recently. He plans to rid the world of all malevolence. I'm planning to stop him.

What does malevolence means, in this sense?

[ he is assuming it is something more than the usual definition because otherwise he's confused here. ]

It's essentially the corruption that naturally exists in humanity. Negative feelings, selfish thoughts, anything along those lines.

That's interesting. Most people would consider getting rid of that a good thing.

[ he can see why it would not be though. ]

From what I saw before I got here, he's already created a "perfect" world. No one kills, no one steals, no one fights... No one has a will of their own, after all.

There's always some sort of catch to utopias, isn't there?

[ it sounds like a boring place to be. ]

Are you working alone?

[breaksouls]

No. Those of us who still have our free will are fighting back.

[ninjay]

That's good to know. And it's not really surprising to hear, considering what I know of your personality.

[ velvet is definitely not the kind to go with the crowd, he has learned. ]

Is that so? I doubt the rest of my world would agree with you, but it's not like I'm fighting for their sake anyways.

[ninjay]

Who are you fighting for then, Velvet?

[breaksouls]

Do you know why birds fly?

[ he tilts his head. ]

It's in your nature.

I don't think that's true.

Then explain it to me in more detail. I want to understand.

Everyone arrives at their own answer. But I don't think this is in my nature at all.

[ninjay]

You sure do act otherwise.

[breaksouls]

That has nothing to do with my nature.

[Well, she'll admit to herself that she can be brash, but...]

If I acted according to my nature, I imagine I'd travel the world only if someone dragged me along with them and then I'd settle down and start a family. I surely wouldn't be going up against a god.

[ninjay]

[ he tilts his head, clearly surprised. ]

You want to start a family? That's...

No, I want to defeat Innominat. But being a mother... that might have been in my nature.

[ninjay]

You can want more than one thing, Velvet. That's fine.

[ normal, even. ]

Alright. I want to kill Artorius Collbrande.

It's also okay to want things that has nothing to do with killing.

But there's nothing I want more than that.

What do you plan to do after all of that then?

Nothing. My life is connected to Innominat's. If I kill him, I'll die too.
