( MINGLE - WEEK 4 )
![]() The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the buildings surrounding the motel, it seems like the Library is now open. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 4! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Remember that we can't have a murdergame without any murders, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor. As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation |

tuesday - evidently i like suffering
There's something akin to almost genuine emotion on his face when he pulls out his own deck and shuffles it quickly before setting it back down on the table. ]
If you don't mind playing by Duel Monsters rulesets - the cards seem... similar enough that the ruleset should be applicable, regardless.
[ That thing about mana and lands and stuff... yeah... maybe he's going to fudge it up a bit but THEY'LL MAKE IT WORK, OK. ]
i don't understand why you hate yourself so much??
At least this will be a nice distraction from his arm.]
You'll have to explain to me how the game works. But... [He's going to offer his own deck to Kaiba to look at, because he honestly has no clue which cards will work and which won't.]
Take a look. Pick out which ones you think will work -- or will all of them suffice?
self-loathing is canon apparently
He's going to at least do a cursory count through the cards though - his deck has about 20 odd cards less than Light's because Duel Monsters rules. ]
You won't need the land cards, I think. Instead of using... mana, to activate attacks and spells, for simplicity's sake, we'll just use the lowest levelled effect of whatever cards we draw. Most of my cards only have single effects.
[ Multiple tiered effects, though, hm. Something to bring back, eventually. ]
Speed Duel rules - we start with 4,000 Life Points, first person to deplete the other's Life wins the Duel. Maximum of four monsters and magic or traps each on your field at any point in time.
[ He's starting to settle into his element. He draws the first five cards from his deck, fanning them out so that Light can see the number of cards that he's drawn. He has a feeling that the other will pick up the game rather easily. ]
Do you want to attack first?
rip both of us
Light's eyes scan his cards, then flicker back up to Kaiba. He's right, it won't take long for him to pick up the rules of the game but-- Well, he's not so foolish to think that he's not at a disadvantage. Kaiba apparently takes this Very Seriously, and Light is still considered a beginner. With cards that aren't even the correct ones, at that.
He frowns. He hates being at a disadvantage.]
I will. For the sake of an example.
[And down comes a card, except with much shittier art.] How much damage will this do? We're ignoring the skills, I assume.
