( MINGLE - WEEK 4 )
![]() The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the buildings surrounding the motel, it seems like the Library is now open. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 4! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Remember that we can't have a murdergame without any murders, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor. As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation |

[Kaito also returns to the library, pausing at the entrance to make a face at those three portraits. he strolls into the building slowly, cautiously, gaze flickering left and right as though something might jump out at him at any moment. every step is taken carefully as he picks his way over the broken bookshelves and the rotting. . . monster corpse. . .]
They can't get someone to clean this mess up? Sheesh. . .
[he stops by an intact shelf and runs his good hand over the spines of the books]
tuesday afternoon - lounge
[for a magician, having full use of both hands is essential. so now that one of Kaito's has been rendered useless. . . well]
[he's sitting in the lounge, frowning at some more brochure paper that he's attempting to fold into origami cranes. it's not going so well, and the cranes that he has managed to make look sad and crumply]
Damn it. . .
[he's frustrated]
thursday morning - pool area
[who wants to hang out around the pool area on Thursdays, when the water is gross and nasty? APPARENTLY KAITO DOES]
[he's sitting on one of the outdoor chairs, pant leg rolled up and fingers digging into his skin, like he's trying to flake it off or something. he's also mumbling to himself, one eye squinted shut and mouth curled back in a disgusted sneer]
Get off get off get off-- of all things, why'd it have to be this?!
[he sounds a little panicked, oops]
monday morning - library;
[ Knoll is nearby a bookcase as well; already looking at the books himself. It was nice to have a place so full of them. ]
Though, it could be that they're not motivated. But, at the very least we do have access to a library now, even if the stench is a bit of a distraction.
no subject
If we can get through three weeks of murder, I feel like we can handle a little stink.
[although he makes a face as he catches a whiff of that rot, and. blech]
There has to be something useful in here, right?
no subject
Hopefully there is. It would be quite odd if there wasn't, considering how many books are in here.
[ Knoll already has a feeling he'll be revisiting this place more than once, though. ]
...But while we're here, can you tell me what you think of those symbols? Did any of them seem familiar to you?
no subject
[for all his knowledge of classic Lovecraft, the symbols don't ring a bell. he shakes his head]
No, they don't. But I imagine they're related to the mythos of H.P. Lovecraft's world. At least, er. That's how it'd be where I come from.
[obviously everything Lovecraftian is very real here]

[IMMEDIATELY ROLLS DOWN HIS PANT LEG. and, btw, his leg seems to be perfectly fine? save for the new scratch marks he inflicted himself]
-- yo, Tiny Tot! What's up?
[does Andersen have mouth legs yet]
no subject
-- holy crap, what happened to you?!
[he is totally ignoring that question to gawk. thanks for distracting him from his night terror, Andersen]

Lounge
I could make cranes for you if you need them.
[Why you want them Apollo doesn't know, but he's willing to do it]
no subject
[glances up at Apollo, blinking]
Oh. Haa. . . I don't really "need" them. Making them just kinda. . . took my mind off of everything, y'know?
no subject
There has to be easier things to make with one hand. Did you try planes already?
no subject
No, but planes just aren't the same, y'know? They're so simple.
And no one was around for me to throw them at until now.
[. . . uh oh, he's folding a paper plane now]

thursday
What is it, Kaito?
[ Hearing everyone's reactions to their body horror night terrors when you just think you've gone blind is one hell of a trip. ]
Is something stuck on on you?
no subject
[CAUGHT]
[Kaito jerks his hand away from his leg and immediately rolls down his pants. he doesn't want to be seen freaking out like this]
Nothing! It's nothing. It's-- fine.
no subject
You'd be the first today.
[ That sounds almost half sarcastic. But he shrugs, walking towards where he hears Kaito's... and hits his side on one of the tables. ]
Ow-! Everyone's seeing weird things on them, apparently... Don't worry, I can't even see. You're fine.

monday
[He holds out a paper. It shows them the organization of the library.]
I managed to find this. Want to check if there's anythin' useful left?
no subject
[tilts his head up to peer at that paper, before he nods]
Yeah, let's. I hope it didn't all get destroyed by-- [glances at the dead monster and cringes] -- Fluffy over there.
no subject
[it's casual though and possibly (??) teasing.]
Fluffy was hungry easy.

thursday
You'll end up scratching the skin raw if you continue tearing at it.
[ MOST HELPFUL COMMENTARY EVER. ]
no subject
-- it itches.
That's all.
[not a lie, but he isn't about to say why it itches]
no subject
Have you considered that the water-- [ gestures at its current sludgey state, w/e ] --might be causing it to itch worse?
