( MINGLE - WEEK 3 )

SURVIVORS: 36

The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors.

The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel.

And speaking of the motel, it doesn't seem like there's anything out of the ordinary on this lovely Monday morning. How quaint.

As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 3! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Without any murders we can't have a murdergame, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor!

As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions!

You could say that.

[ anything to distract her. she wasn't thinking when she puffed on a cigarette. ]

I thought I shook these for good.

Shook what? The nerves, or the cigarettes?

[leans his hip against one of the tables and tilts his head, just watching her. he hates the smell of secondhand smoke, honestly, but. he'll keep his complaints to himself for now]
ungodly: (mother nature sighed)

[personal profile] ungodly 2017-06-07 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha. Both. But mostly the cigarettes.

[ that was a foregone thing. she'd stopped smoking those a long time ago. for her dad. the nerves was more recent, but it looks like they relapsed even faster. when heather takes a drag now, she tries to blow it the opposite way of kaito. ]

My dad would be pissed at me if he knew I asked for a whole pack.

[pulls up a lopsided and sympathetic smile]

Well, s'not like he's here. [a small shrug] I can't really blame you for the nerves. This week seems worse than any of the others, y'know?

[that constant paranoia biting at their brains, whispering in their ears, causing them to doubt each other so readily. he's done his best to shove it down, to ignore it, but even he has found himself second guessing himself more often than not these past few days]
ungodly: (i've never really loved)

[personal profile] ungodly 2017-06-08 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
No. He's not anywhere.

[ he's DEAD kaito jesus!! ]

It's like it just keeps getting worse. I keep saying I can handle it on my own, but.. I dunno how much more I can take. It feels like I'm crumbling sometimes. At night when all I can do is think and twiddle my thumbs until we find a corpse.

[HE DIDN'T KNOW!! but her words register to him immediately, as someone else who lost a dad when he was young, and he lets out a soft and sheepish oh. . .]

[he looks away and shrugs]

Yeah. Mine isn't anywhere, either.

[but anyway]

That's the worst part, isn't it? [he scoffs, brows furrowing] I always think I wanna do something to stop this stupid game before anyone else dies, but when I start tryin' to brainstorm, I come up blank.
ungodly: (you taught me how)

I heard about this experiment once. The researchers took some dogs and divided them into two groups. One group would get shocked, but if they hit a lever, the shocks would stop. The other group got shocked, too, but the lever didn't do anything. When they moved both groups to a confined box, they shocked them again, only this time they could get away by jumping over a little fence. The dogs from the first group took the opportunity, but the other group? They just laid there and cried until it ended.

I feel like we're the second group of dogs. Even if an opportunity came, we wouldn't recognize it anyway. We're the learned helpless. [ she's quiet for a moment. ] But that doesn't mean we shouldn't struggle, right..?

[holy shit, that's depressing]

We're not helpless. And we're sure as heck not that second pack of dogs.

[he says firmly, chin tilting up]

And of course we should struggle, at any opportunity we have. We'll figure somethin' out, as long as we keep trying.

[optimist much?]
