( MINGLE - WEEK 3 )
![]() The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it doesn't seem like there's anything out of the ordinary on this lovely Monday morning. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 3! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Without any murders we can't have a murdergame, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor! As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation |

[Suzaku has an announcement to make. Well, it's not quite an announcement, because he doesn't really bother trying to get anyone's attention and all in all he's bringing the subject up rather casually. If anyone in the dining hall around mid-afternoon is paying attention, they'll see him spread out several items on the table in front of him: a book, two letters, and an invitation.]
I found some interesting things over at City Hall, behind one of the locked doors, if anyone would like to look.

thursday;
... Yes, I would like to take a look at the book first.

[Suzaku, personally, finds the book rather interesting, but it is a large and quite heavy thing. He slides it toward Knoll, who will find that it's titled Lake Crotin: Yuggoth's First Blessing. Inside, it immediately rolls into details of The First Blessing, a natural lake free of any toxicity and crystal clear waters. It goes on to describe the founding of Yuggoth around the lake and how the forest surrounding the city flourished due to the lake itself.]
I haven't read too much of it yet, myself.

[ Knoll is already flipping through the book, and for a moment, as he's reading the words within, he's unable to keep himself from appearing quite interested. It reminds him of a time, of when he researched tirelessly in Grado, with a team beside him, and Prince Lyon. ]
But, you've probably already read about the The First Blessing, haven't you?
no subject
I've read the first several pages, at least. I've gotten the gist of it, at least.
[He's saving it for bedtime reading, to be honest.]
What do you think of it? If you don't mind me saying, you look rather nostalgic.

[ ... ]
It's practically the same thing... reading about another world's possible holy book, because it's from a civilization different from my own.
no subject
[That's a fair enough answer--it makes sense.]
You sound quite the scholar.

[He hands Clem the papers to start with. The first is a neatly folded letter. It reads:
MISS KIRKLAND,
It has come to my attention that the radio tower has been scheduled to begin construction July 14th in the South of Yuggoth. I am very pleased to hear this! I was over the moon knowing we were one step closing to another blessing. This city has seen so many hardships over the years and yet, it thrives. I would like to schedule a public tour first thing on such day for groundbreaking. Ms. Phillips has been donated generously with her foundation and I believe with this radio tower, we can finally accomplish the impossible.
I request you schedule a barber ahead of time, I'd like to look cleanly shaven for the photographers.
- Mayor Johnson]

Isn't this... Worded kind of weird?
no subject
[He props his head up on one one hand as he turns the paper back around on the paper to look it over idly himself. If Clem moves onto the other two papers, she'll find an invitation to the Higher One's commencement ceremony at the Yuggoth Church, and a small thank you letter from a "Abigail Phillips" for the Mayor's endless support for her research for something called the "HP Formula".]

Maybe they didn't have time to rewrite it. But the public tour part sounds weird, and the Ms. Phillips has been donated thing is weird, too...

[Anything for you, one-armed tiny friend. He could just use the book as a paperweight but decides to be gracious and actually spread the three out and hold them flat himself. He'll cycle through the three of them as Andersen reads. First the letter from the typewriter, and then the thank you letter and invitation.]
I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

[Maybe they wised up. Or just gained the capability. Hard to really say what's going on, or where it started.]

I wonder what it was they were trying to accomplish...
no subject
[However, he does have a first impression, at least.]
Perhaps they wanted to spread the word of the Higher One. To achieve more blessings for this city.

Sure, I'd like to take a look. Hit me with whatever you think's most interesting first.

THURSDAY i said i was coming for u
How did you get behind the locked door?
YEAH COME GET ME
Simple: I opened it. When I was looking around City Hall, I noticed a shadow of what I assumed was a person heading down the hallway--this was curious, because I thought I was alone. It disappeared, but the Mayor's Office was unlocked when I tried the handle.
[He shrugs.]
I couldn't say why. Before too long I was forced back outside, and when I tried the door again, it was locked once more.
