( MINGLE - WEEK 3 )
![]() The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it doesn't seem like there's anything out of the ordinary on this lovely Monday morning. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 3! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Without any murders we can't have a murdergame, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor! As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation |
??? - MONDAY, 6:30 PM
Moments later, the second floor hallways will smell distinctively like smoke. Or, perhaps, a little like overcooked pork.]
( ONE TO THREE CHARACTERS MAXIMUM IN THIS THREAD, THANK YOU. )
no subject
He'll be heading out of his room now--and looking around. ]
no subject
Is something on fire? Smells like someone left a boar to roast too long.
no subject
Maybe someone set off the breakers while cooking?
no subject
But if the electricity has gone out, that would imply something's happened to the breakers. Now — what's on the second floor that could be related to that?]
no subject
But the other two are there. ]
I have not a clue. However, something nefarious could be the reason for why we are at a loss for light.
[ Ever the optimist. ]
...Unfortunately, I'm also not entirely sure where we should be heading.
no subject
Since everything's gone dark, it might have something to do with the dark room.
[swing and a miss]
no subject
The electrical room would be more likely, wouldn't it? Since the motel runs on electricity, and that's probably where the breakers are kept. It's been locked, but we could check? If not there, then maybe the dark room.
no subject
But maybe they should head towards the Electrical Room to check it out? The smell, though fading by the minute, seems to be stronger on the second floor hallways. Particularly, the interior hallways.]
no subject
[ Luckily, he remembers where that is at least. ]
Then, let's make our way towards the Electrical Room first.
[ And then he decides to head in the direction of the Electrical Room--even though anything could happen. His steps are slow and careful, though. Running in the dark is never a good idea. ]
no subject
Uh, that's probably a better idea. [She frowns suddenly.] Hey, is it only the lights that are hooked up to the electricity, or do you think there might be some other things in here that aren't working anymore?
no subject
It depends if they're all on the same circuit breaker, or if there are multiple ones. And that's also ignoring the... supernatural elements. [ honestly if someone told her the lights were actually running on horror supernatural magic shit she'd accept it now. ] But no, nothing plugged in should be working right now if I'm right.
no subject
With the glow of the emergency lights, they'll be able to find their way to the source of the smell. The Electrical Room's door, while previously locked, is now wide open. There is a faint trace of smoke in the air, visible only when the three of them look directly at the emergency lights. Inside, the room is far too dark to properly appreciate... but. There are two distinct shapes on the floor.
Perhaps they should take a closer room.]
no subject
[ What even happened in here...
Okay, it was probably death.
But, anyway, Knoll will stalk closer to the two shapes on the floor, to get a better look. Or at least try to. ]
no subject
Careful, it might be a trap! [said in the tones of someone who is definitely used to using corpses to lure her enemies in closer to shank...anyway, she'll warily edge closer, ready to leap into action and tackle Knoll out of the way from any sudden corpse uprising if she has to.]
no subject
Are those people? Are-- are they dead? [ if it's a pork roast i quit. ] We need to get the lights back on so we can see.
no subject
As Knoll stalks closer, he'll recognize the human corpse.
Dave Strider is dead.]
no subject
[ Knoll's tangent tapers off, his voice steadily lowering into complete silence when he's able to identify the blond-haired male.
...Alright, if Knoll was being honest, he wasn't expecting Dave to be dead, and he just couldn't help but sigh to himself. He didn't really have words for this, and even if he did, he wouldn't want to say much of anything. But, he'll be taking a closer look at Dave's corpse now--can he see the damage done up close?
He'll leave the other corpse to other two. ]
no subject
Is - is that Dave? [In the darkness, she can't tell if he's dead or merely unconscious - though with their luck, she can make a guess. Still, she's not about to write him off so soon.] Check his pulse, see if he's still breathing! I'll look over the other one.
[She'll squint around the room, noting the broken fuse box - not that she knows exactly what it is, but she can recognize broken machinery when she sees it.] Violet, you're the most familiar with electricity out of the three of us here, can you see if you can get the lights back on? Or make any sense of what might have happened in here?
no subject
it takes her a moment to restart her brain, but. ] Right. Lights. [ she fumbling pulls out a ribbon to tie her hair back before making her way to the fuse box, looking away from the bodies and trying to focus.
how broken is the fuse box? ]
no subject
Up close, Knoll can see blood across Dave's face, neck and the front of his shirt. His nose is broken and his lip is split, as if he smashed his face against a hard surface. Given where they are right now, any piece of furniture could be the culprit — especially with so little illumination. The shades Dave loved so much are still on his face, but they're crooked and damaged, one of the lenses cracked. However, he obviously didn't die of a broken nose.
There are electrical burns on his neck and face. It's easy to guess what must have happened there.
Next to him is another corpse, this one belonging to a beast. Around the height of Dave's torso, its a mess of tentacles, eyes and mouths. There are cuts all over the creature, sluggishly bleeding black sludge as some of its tentacles still cling to Dave's corpse. Knoll may notice a scalpel is still held in Dave's hand.
The fuse box, as Violet will quickly notice, seems to have been broken by something (or someone) slamming into it. She doesn't have the tools to repeat it, but worry not. Should they turn towards the door, they'll notice a faceless man watching(?) them. There's a toolbox in one of his hands.]
no subject
...
[ For a moment he could only stare; he doesn't follow Aloy's instructions because from what he could tell it would be a waste and he'd bloody as well as dirty his hands. Which, he'd rather not, and so he'll try to avoid that as much as possible. Still, he'll reach out with trembling hands to just sort of. Begin to take that scalpel.
Might as well not leave it there.
He's seen a great deal of corpses on the battlefield and here, though, but he can never really say he's stopped being bothered by them. The presence of the ghastly monster doesn't help, naturally.
Finally, though, he finds his voice after he's decided for now that he's done looking at Dave's corpse. ]
I don't believe there is any point in checking.
no subject
How did he even get into this room? The door was locked! Can it really be that easy breaking through the doors? [because if it is SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE'S DOING THIS WEEK...
Anyway first things first, she's going to stab her knifespear right in the middle of the tentacle corpse just in case it gets any smart ideas about rising from the dead. Then she's going to check it over as much as she can in the dark, running her hands over the cuts. Are they shallow? How many of them are there? Does it look like it might have died of blood loss, or did Dave hit a weakpoint somewhere?]
no subject
through her hands, ] Dave... he's-- he was the Convict. He had the skeleton key, and could go into one locked room each week. [ she feels like she should be pretending she has Wow, No Idea how dave could get into a locked room but it?? doesn't?? matter?? anymore??
she will rub away any desire to maybe cry a bit from her face before moving to take the toolbox from the faceless man, presuming he/it will let her fix the fuse box her damn self. ]
no subject
Though it's a little hard to tell, the beast has electrical burns over its body. It seems like it might have been clinging to Dave when he got electrocuted.
The faceless man will allow Violet to have the toolbox, though he'll remain close by to supervise/lend a hand should it be necessary. It's dreadfully boring if two people die in the same way tonight, after all.]
