( TRIAL - WEEK 2 )
![]() At exactly 11:30 am, all residents who are still asleep will be jolted awake by a sharp, burning pain that spreads across their whole body. A simple look will reveal no visible injuries, oddly enough, and the pain will fade away as soon as they're properly awake. Those early birds who are already up and about will feel nothing — except maybe a strange, mysterious sense of relief as they go on about their business. Lucky them. Moments later, an announcement will come through the static-filled PA system: And true to his words, anyone who doesn't make their way to the Dining Hall before noon will be dragged kicking and screaming regardless of where they've sequestered themselves. Sucks to be you, huh? Upon arriving there, however, residents will be given the menu, one copy of the rulebook, one pencil, one notepad, and a cheque folder. Lunch and dinner will be served at the appropriate times, and appetizers, desserts and beverages (of the non-alcoholic variety) will be available throughout the trial. All you have to do is ask one of the faceless men, and your food will be delivered to you in ten minutes or less depending on what it is. The Dining Room itself looks about the same as it does any other day — save for the fact that the lights have been dimmed. Why this, you ask? Because the projector is now in use. Transparencies containing each resident's profile will be displayed on the pull-down screen, with one of the staff members rotating through the images every minute. The profiles of the deceased are included, and if current discussion deems it necessary to focus on one particular resident, anyone is free to ask the faceless man to pause on the appropriate profile for a while. A small area has been sectioned off with a transparent, plastic curtain right next to the pull-down screen. Its use will become rapidly apparent once the victim's corpse has been wheeled in. Anyone who wishes to step into this area will be asked to wash their hands, and will be given a pair of latex-free gloves and a hairnet by a staff members who is stationed nearby. Residents are required to dispose of both items before returning to the dinner table; a trash bin is available outside of the curtains for this purpose. Evidence found during the investigation, on the other hand, will be displayed in the back of the room. Two, long tables have been taken out of storage for this occasion, and any items found by the residents on Friday will be displayed here for further examination. Finally — a clock above the pull-down screen displays the current hour. Please do remember you have until 9:00 PM to figure out whodunit and cast your vote. Characters will be given nine (9) hours to discuss everything related to the investigation to hopefully solve the mystery behind this week's murder. No one will be allowed to leave the Dining Hall, and all characters must cast their vote before 9PM EST. You may do so on this week's voting page. If you have any questions or doubts, shoot us a PM or a PP over at voting | profiles | menu | locations | ic rulebook |

BODIES
A moment of silence, children.
[And then he begins to play the fucking kazoo.
This horrible musical experience will last as long as it takes for the staff members to wheel the corpse to the sectioned off area. Once that's done, however, Craftly will retreat to his own table and residents will be free to inspect the bodies as much as they want.
Please use this toplevel for reexamining the bodies.]

Hey, guys. Just wanted to say a few things before we officially start all of this. First, a suggestion:: [and suddenly he throws his arms up in the air in exasperation, losing his cool completely (dipper was never cool but don’t tell him)] Maybe CHILL OUT with all the murder?! We’ve all been here for two weeks and we’ve already got a higher crime rate than Detroit. [he pauses] For reference, that’s bad. Detroit is a terrible place to live. [coughs and continues] Look, it’s bad enough everyone keeps stealing supplies because this motel is full of kleptomaniac hoarders, do you really have to stab the nearest person possible for, I don’t know, “mom” or whatever a weird tentacle butler told you you’d get if you did it? This is completely insane and not at all how you fight overcrowding in rooms, people. Whoever couldn’t keep from putting their murderhat on and going to town: you guys are the worst. Just. The worst.
[and now that that … rant… is done, he’ll say something less terrible]
Also, for actual trial stuff, we can obviously strike out Jake and Andersen as possible murderers, since we only found them after all the bodies have been found. So that’s two alibis out of thirty-seven because someone couldn’t stop MURDERING, and I think we should try to figure out where everyone was Thursday night and see who can corroborate their story, to at least strikeout people with rock-solid alibis. Of course since we have three dead and so, three potential murderers at most seriously, you guys?, we also need to make sure we’re not working with people who murdered together, but at least establishing everyone’s alibis would be a start, I think.
… But seriously stop murdering. Why do I even need to say this.
no subject
YEAH! STOP BEING A BUNCH OF MURDERING JERKS AND BUTTHEADS!
[Or shuddering at the mention of Detroit. Once Dipper is finished, Mabel steps forward and whips out her stickerbook, showing rows of fun and puffy stickers. You can look, but you can't touch, for now]
See these stickers? These stickers go to people who are good, who don't murder, and who help to solve the murders!
[She angrily slaps a U DA BEST sticker on Dipper and a cactus with a hat on herself]
So if you guys don't stop murdering, no one gets a sticker!
[Insert gasps. She mimes ripping up a sticker and throwing it on the ground]
So, here's the deal. Solve the murder, you get a sticker. Don't murder, you get a sticker. Go crazy and keep killing people? No sticker.
And just think, if no one kills, next week we can have a big party in here! And we can vote on who gets to be waterballooned instead!
[Ahem, okay, focus. She closes the sticker book for now, (enjoy that taste of paradise, people) and puts it away in her sweater, which is a heart with sunglasses today, yes.]
Now everyone, listen to Dipper! Give us your alibis!!

CRIME SCENE DISCUSSION

One of you among us has an instant camera as part of your role. It might be helpful in documenting crime scenes, if we can turn it in as evidence.

[Yukina looks a little uncertain - she has no idea how this kind of thing works, maybe. Perhaps there's a logical explanation for it. She doesn't want to waste anyone's time by bringing it up, but if it is significant, better to talk it out now, right...?]
When we found Omega-san... she was sort of curled up, on her left side. There was a lot of blood... but, even though her right arm wasn't in the blood, the glove on her right hand was... soaked in it. If nothing was moved, that shouldn't have been possible, right...?

BODILY INJURIES
I propose that we conduct a similar process as the previous trial; showing one's arms and hands. There has definitely been a fight in the murder scene.

body locations
There's also the question of why Hibiki was found so far away from Vincent. It doesn't look like he was dragged, so either the killer was strong enough to carry him all the way into the dining room, or he made his way there himself while he was still alive. It's definitely possible that he was the one who attacked Vincent, but he may have been working with someone else who has the weapon that was used to stab him...so maybe his partner turned on him afterwards?
no subject
Are we... sure that their deaths are related? Isn't it possible that the bodies were so far apart because two people went after them, separately...?

CAT HERDING
[HUP HUP Kaito is hopping up onto one of the dining room tables to get everyone's attention. he is only wearing his socks, because he gave his shoes to Jake and Andersen. don't step on any forks, Kaito]
Okay. So far, we've concluded that Omega likely. . . killed herself, as a sacrifice to even the playing field with the Ghost. Craftly said if there was evidence of the Ghost's involvement, we would've found it by now. With that knowledge, we've begun to focus our attention on Hibiki and Vincent.
[holds up one finger]
First, Vincent. His body was found in the diner. He was stabbed through the eye, had a broken nose, some of his limbs were broken and he looked like he's been stabbed in several other places as well. The scene at the diner was a mess too, indicating the possibility of some sort of struggle. Vincent's stab wound is consistent with an object that's small and round, likely a pen or a screwdriver, if we're assuming the murder weapon was an item associated with a role. Some of the bruises on Vincent's body look like boot prints, with the size and shape matching Hibiki, Kamui, Aloy, Dirk, Percival, myself, Bakura, Dave, Akira and Apollo.
Hibiki's body was found in the dining room. His throat was slashed with what we assume is a scalpel, and he had also bruises all over his body.
There was also a lot of blood and a strand of hair found in the grocery store, indicating that maybe one of our victims was killed there. We speculated that maybe Vincent was killed there, and Hibiki was involved in his death and somehow moved his body to the diner.
The only person who had any fresh injuries consistent with a fight of some kind was Kamui.
[lifts a hand and scratches the back of his head thoughtfully]
That said-- based on Vincent's injuries, I think our killer is either the Technician with the screwdriver, or the Author with the pen. As for Hibiki. . . I'd say maybe his killer was the Mortician, but with so many scalpels missing, s'hard to say.
Does that cover everything?

We have a little less than half an hour left for this, everyone. Remember to get your votes in before time's up.

RESULTS
Well done, children. The votes have been tallied, and your participation has been noted. I believe this deserves a round of applause.
[And a round of applause is what everyone gets, as the faceless men begin to clap in eerie synchronization, hands coming together at the same time. On the projector, the results are displayed. After a brief pause, Craftly holds up a tendril to silence his staff members.]
Well done, everyone! I commend you for discovering the culprit's true identity. Indeed, Mr. Kamui is guilty of murder. If he had any wits about him, he would have hid it a little bit better. As you can see, the results are telling...
[As the murderer is revealed and Craftly's words ring true, two faceless men approach and drag the murderer off. For all the kicking and screaming that may happen, it seems like the motel's staff is far much more stronger than it seems.]
I do not appreciate my establishment being sullied in such a way, especially with such disregard to my efforts. Thus, you'll clean your mess and then some before your execution. To you all, you're free to converse with the guilty party but his punishment is sealed. He will face the great unknown tomorrow once our executioner is selected. Enjoy your evening.
[That said, the executioner vote is available and Craftly exits the Dining Hall. With the doors now unlocked, everyone is free to leave the room to seek out the culprit as they please. For tonight: the guilty party is chained to the floor, washing an endless amount of dishes. They will be available to have final private conversations with.]
