( MINGLE - WEEK 2 )

SURVIVORS: 40 The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint. Welcome to Week 2's mingle, everyone! As of this week, we are now accepting murder proposals. It's a good distraction.

[ at least he hasn't flat out broken it. ]

Maybe if you settle on a song, it'll give you something to focus on?

I'm not familiar with any of them.

[ jay that has nothing to do with anything. he still sounds huffy about it though. ]

I didn't know any of them either, but it was still pretty interesting to hear them.

[ he sighs, and stops slamming the button to listen to whatever song is playing.

[ she is not sure how to feel about this song. ]

... Well... That's... Sad.

It fits the mood at least.

[ you know what he's just going to. take a step back away from the jukebox, then gesture at clem to check it out if she wants. ]

It's not gonna give me anything better.

[ she still starts tapping at the buttons to check it out, though ]

[ninjay]

We don't really have something like this where I'm from.

[ they don't have... a lot of the stuff here where he's from, actually, but he does not want to admit that. ]

Really?

We... Have them, there's just not usually power for them and no one wants to make this much sound.

[ninjay]

Because of the zombies, right? It would catch their attention.

[ that sounds like such a depressing way to live. ]

[willremember]

Yeah. Some places have good borders and generators, but it's pretty uncommon.

[ninjay]

A place like that would probably not be very welcoming to outsiders though, I imagine.

[willremember]

It depends. Some places throw you in quarantine until they decide if you can come in. Some places let you come and go.

[ninjay]

That's more lenient than I would have pictured.

[ jay stop expecting the worst of people. ]

Those are the good ones.

[ there are also......... bad ones..... ]

How long has this been an issue where you're from, anyway?

[willremember]

About five years, now. When it first happened, everyone thought the military would roll through and clean it all up somehow, but...

All that did was give us some walkers in riot gear.

[ninjay]

That's not too surprising. In times of crisis, civilians would typically just let the military or whoever else is in power take care of things. Most people's immediately answer is to shoot and if that doesn't work...

[willremember]

I don't mind telling people about it or anything, but I'm also kind of tired of talking about it.

So - what's your world like?

[ninjay]

There's no walkers, for one.

[ he's not really sure how to vaguely explain it though. it's easier when people ask specific questions. ]

I live on an island called the Legacy. There are a lot of monsters roaming around, but they're not really an issue if you know how to take care of yourself.

[willremember]

Huh. That's kind of similar. [ just without the turning, basically. but still plenty of danger. ]

So do you just have to learn to fight really young?

[ninjay]

Not everyone does. There are plenty of people who don't know how to fight at all, and they tend to just stay in the village since there are plenty of people who can protect it.

[ HE MISSES IT....... but he manages to make his tone neutral when talking about it. ]

I did learn when I was young though.

[willremember]

That's good. Better to be self sufficient.

So then did you leave the village? Since you learned how to fight?
