SURVIVORS: 40

The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors.

The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel.

And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint.

[chie's still a little spacey but she's much more awake than she was about an hour ago when she wanders into the diner. she blinks a couple of times as the music changes every five seconds, then notices who's at the jukebox.]

Ah, don't say things like that. Considering how many knives are missing, the very next one could be stabbed to death.

I hope so too. I don't know Anderson very well, but Jake is a nice person.

Do you have any idea where they could have gone? Like, did Jake say anything about it to you in the morning?

Do you think they tried to go outside the fog? Maybe that's why no one can find them...

If they did, then how did they manage to do that? The fog's basically impenetrable from what we've seen.

Well, think about it. If they went somewhere we could normally access, someone definitely would have found them by now. The only way someone wouldn't would be if they were somewhere we just couldn't get to... which, I guess, could also mean all the locked places around town, too.

Or maybe an underground tunnel system?

We can't rule anything out at this point. I know that people have been suspecting some type of tunnel system, or at least trap doors.

If only Craftly would actually give us answers instead of the half-assed "technically I'm telling the truth" crap he usually says.

I'm not entirely sure if he can. It's not like he's the one in charge here.

He's the closest thing we've got, isn't he?

He is. But it means we shouldn't expect him to be able to help as much as we want him to. I wouldn't blame him to not want to help us too much and anger his bosses.
