( MINGLE - WEEK 2 )
![]() The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint. Welcome to Week 2's mingle, everyone! As of this week, we are now accepting murder proposals. If you're interested in having your character murder someone this week, please send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. We'll be contacting you on plurk over the week to finalize the details, or ask for rescheduling if necessary. As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation |

Hm.
[Which is the only verbal response she deems necessary. Immediately after, she busts out some cleaning supplies and gets to work scrubbing everything down. This technically isn't evidence or anything, so who really cares.]
no subject
...Velvet-san? You're cleaning up too?
[This is more surprising to her than it should be.]
no subject
[She is scrubbing very hard, but despite the work involved, she seems to be somewhat enjoying herself. Either way, she's decidedly calmer than she was during the trial.]
I can't drink, but I imagine it's not so pleasant smelling dried blood while you're drinking.
no subject
[Yeah, she gets where Velvet is coming from here. Cleaning supplies in hand, she'll head over to start scrubbing at a part she hasn't gotten to yet.]
I'll help. That is, if you don't mind.
no subject
[She says, now frowning as she cleans away all the muck.]
If you focus on something I'm not cleaning, it shouldn't be too much of an hindrance. But I might still have to look over your work.
no subject
[She's thorough when she works, at least. Even if Velvet does have to look over her work, it shouldn't take too long to confirm.] I'm actually pretty good at this sort of thing! Even if my profile card didn't list cleaning as a skill...
[She'll keep at it, and true to her word, she's doing a careful, thorough job with the mess.]
no subject
[And she's fine which Velvet confirms and then goes back to her own cleaning.]
Everyone has their own way of doing things, including cleaning. And inevitably, if you try to do something two different ways, it'll take longer to get it done. That's all.
no subject
[But also, they're just trying to get rid of the blood? Ultimately, as long as they accomplish that, it shouldn't be too hard to do efficiently.]
But I think there's something to be said for working together to complete a task. Look! [She smiles and gestures at the bit Velvet just cleaned off and the bit she just cleaned.] We've already cleaned twice what one person would do alone in just a small amount of time.
no subject
It'd be more consistent if I had done it myself. There are definitely tasks where having greater numbers helps, but I think cleaning goes best when one person is able to focus all their energy. You also don't have to argue about the methods used, or waste time discussing things.
no subject
[Well. Message received, then? She'll just. Clean in silence, so they don't waste time talking.
But she'll talk again once they're all finished. Velvet hasn't gotten rid of her yet.]
no subject
There. I'd say we might wanna make sure the scent of blood's gone, but in a place like this... There's a pretty overwhelming stench already.
[It's alcohol.]
no subject
...you don't like the scent of alcohol, Velvet-san?
[It is a little... pungent...]
no subject
[Rokurou and Eizen seem to like it a lot, but...]
I'm 19, so it's not like I've ever had any.
no subject
[demons don't have a drinking age
and her human friends are punks who don't give a shit about the drinking age]

[ that is his way of saying hello. he tries to spend less time looking at the actual message left behind and more focusing on the mess. Akira made a point of wearing dark, unassuming clothes for the sole purpose of never wanting to wear them again, so. ]
Would you mind if I borrow some of your cleaning supplies? I'd like to lend a hand.
no subject
[Besides, the cleaning services here really aren't up to snub, in her opinion. At some point, she'll probably end up cleaning the whole thing.]
It's faster if I work alone. Everyone has their own way of cleaning, you know.
no subject
[ ohhh, there's probably a few people here that enjoys it. Akira doesn't like to think that it may very well be someone that lives in the same kind of room as everyone else. even with Velvet blurting about imminent murder all the time, she's kept her hands to herself and hasn't spilled blood. yet. to his knowledge.
yeeeeah. ]
That's fine. [ rude. ] Keep the cleaning materials to yourself. I'll work with what I have.
[ he remains silent as he goes over to the bar counter, picking up a dishrag that a faceless man had been using to clean the surface. Akira goes over to the wall and begins scrubbing silently, watching as the white towl slowly but surely begins to turn red. ]
no subject
Look, see! This is what I was talking about! You're doing it all wrong! This isn't even yours, right? Now he'll have to deal with another mess... And you should be scrubbing it like this...
[Despite the harshness of her words, she truly seems concerned with how things are cleaned. She almost sounds like a mom with the way she goes on.]
no subject
I'm sorry. You should properly guide me, then. I don't want to continue making messes for you to clean up.
[ as if it's a threat, he slowly raises the dirtied rag to the wall, inching closer and closer to continue cleaning it...... ]
no subject
[It's said with as much viciousness as any of her other threats. Perhaps, even more. She grabs his hand to stop him, then takes the rag from him.]
I already said it'll be faster if I do it alone. I don't have time to teach you my way of cleaning.
no subject
We have nothing but time, Velvet-san. Unfortunately.
[ he doesn't resist her grabbing his hand. it's actually kind of nice, minus the part where she's probably squeezing down on it really hard. ]
I want to help clean. It's either I clean here or I go ruin something else... unless you teach me the ways of cleaning, that is.
no subject
[With that, she tosses his hand away and goes to place the rag down on the counter. She gathers some of her cleaning supplies and hands him a few different things.]
Here. You'll want to use this. And this is how you should do it... You'll just make the stains worse otherwise.
[Velvet demonstrates her method and then waits for him to copy, to make sure he's not gonna just start ruining everything again.]
Do they have machines for this in your world too?
no subject
Thank you. [ he does indeed note how she goes about cleaning, taking this task he's bestowed upon himself very seriously. after watching for a bit, he mimics her motions with the supplies she's allowed him to borrow. ] So, I was pushing the blood further into the wall with how I was doing it. Good to know...
[ and here he was being hopeful that Velvet would take his hand and guide him herself. dreamy sigh. ]
Not really, no. There's steamers you can use, but it's mainly things for floors. Like a buffing machine, for example.
no subject
[You're just bad at it, is what she means to say. She's stopped her cleaning for now in order to observe him, still making sure everything's okay. This is why it's better if just one person cleans... His cleaning is fine now that he's doing it her way, but-]
Why are you smiling...? Is something funny?
no subject
[ the smile turns into a brief frown when he thinks on how things have changed since he's arrived her. there should be no time for jokes or playing around, and yet, it's one of the only things he knows to do at this point. ]
Nothing funny. I was just happy that you allowed me a chance to assist. You're rather skilled at this, after all.
