( INVESTIGATION - WEEK 4 )

Promptly at 7:59 AM, all residents will wake up as if it was any other morning. There's the usual hum from the air conditioner units and the sound of harsh wind blowing against the windows. While the sun may not have ever set, there's no reason to doubt it's time to get up and greet the brand new day. Despite the usual cold clinging to the residents' skin, it seems like any other Friday morning. Or, at least, it does — until it suddenly isn't. A large, deafening explosion will rock the motel seconds before 8:00 AM, drowning out the sound of the grandfather clocks and threatening to break the building in half. Those on the motel's west wing will feel the tremors with greater strength, their ears ringing from the volume of the explosion, and just when the walls and ceilings begin to crack... A translucent shimmer coats every room from top to bottom, almost like a shield to keep the structure from falling apart. Now, it's time to see what surprises lay in wait for the survivors. [ The first thing Akane sees is someone taking a nap in the outdoor dining area! Their body is slumped over carefully onto the table. ]

at least they're not on fire though?? so she's going to go and see who it is]

[ Unfortunately, it may be one of our reckless dumb dumbs from Twisted Thursday. The burn wounds rippling up his arms are proof — Akane is able to make out Ryou Bakura sleeping eternally. His eyes were even shut. Any attempts to awaken him result in nothing. ]

[Oh that really super sucks :( BUT since there's obviously nothing she can do for him and there is still a fire going on, she's just going to go ahead and grab anything that works as a container and fill it with gross sludge water to take back to the lobby]

[ YA BOI IS DEEEEEAD.

Do you want to look at the area or the body? ]

[ Andersen can see that Ryou is placed rather ... carefully. It's almost tranquil — but the attention is the two teacups that remain on the table. There's still a bit of tea in it. Look further? ]

[ The cup closest to Ryou has a powdery white residue at the bottom. Like something crushed up! ]

[abhoth]

[ Bingo. Where next? ]

[abhoth]

[ Ryou looks peaceful, but still entirely fucked up. The burn marks dance across his skin, disappearing underneath his clothes. It looks as if some of them have peeled away and begun to bleed earlier, but it could be due to moving around upon his discovery. His eyes are closed tightly.

The pool? It's the same sludge goodness you'd expect. However, a few yards away from the table - closer to the pool, Andersen can see something resting on the ground. Something tiny. ]

[ It seems to be a room key - the tag reads Room 105. ]

[ Don't worry, a faceless man will lift up Andersen by his ankles and shake the key out later.

I don't know, is there something else to check out? There's the patio furniture, the shed, the grill... take your pick. ]

[ Everything is perfectly fine with the patio furniture and the grill!

But the shed — from first opening it, he'll notice there is only one bottle of lighter fluid left. Weird, huh? The stack of matches that were to the left of the bottles are missing.

Look further? ]

[abhoth]

[ It's a full bottle, but a lonely bottle.

As he begins to leave, he'll notice two things: there's a shocking lack of grilling supplies. No charcoal or prongs/forks for flipping delicious meats! Was someone planning a BBQ?

His focus on the shed earns him something: he can eagle-eye spot a dark strand of hair between supplies. ]

[ Nothing fancy, just some inflatable pool noodles and chlorine.

Nothing else! ]
