SURVIVORS: 32 The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the buildings surrounding the motel, it seems like the Library is now open. How quaint. As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 4! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Never mention that scream to anyone else, ever? [a beat before he shrugs] I'm fine. Like I said, something just... freaked me out. A little.

I will not mention the super loud scream that was caused by a small thing.

It was not "super loud". That was like. Medium loud at best.

[splinten]

[Dirk has literally never raised his voice past 'low growl' even when he was trying to kill Mira.]

It was not!! It was barely a yell!!

[even that indignant squawk right there was probably super loud compared to dirk. dipper is not a quiet kid]

I have never yelled once in my entire life.

Okay, no, that's fake. I don't think your vocal chords have the capacity to yell. Have you ever even raised your voice slightly once in your life??

I shouted at two of my best friends when they got brainwashed on magical alien candy drugs. They wanted to polyamorous marry all of us and have infinite babies together so we could all be happy.

[Deadpan.

It deserved his yelling.]

... Okay, fair, that sounds like a yelling situation.

I feel like I went a little overboard on them, but it was not the best day for us as a group.

I dunno. Taking drugs and then saying being married and having babies would solve all your problems and make you happy seems pretty messed up to me.

[splinten]

They were magical candy lollipops that no one knew would do that, so I don't blame Jane for startin' it. Jake and Roxy then had it shoved on them against their will by Jane, who was already way out of her own sane mind. No one was really themselves when Trickster Mode took over, except me because Heart is the dumbest goddamned power.

[Or... it was clinical depression? He's never sure. He's going to say it was a Heart thing and not tell Dipper, 'or maybe i just hated myself too much to truly get magic alien high.']

For the record, you are doing way better than any drug PSAs I've ever seen on the whole "drugs are bad" spiel.

I'm going to consider that a compliment. [He doesn't like mind-altering substances?? Roxy had problems, the lollipops were crazy. Drugs are not cool.]

It is. There's like, a gajillion cartoon versions of anti-drug PSAs.

I did some archival reading on it, but mostly the "This is your brain on drugs" series.

Oooh, yeah, those old ones were harsh. Like the one with the egg? That one was a bit much.

My Bro did a great reference to it in one of his films. [This is plausible to assume about the SBAHJ films and you fucking know it.] That commercial seemed like something of an overreaction to the situation, when the best forms of drug crime reduction comes through cultural shifts in treatments towards drug users to encourage recovery and support, rather than preventative scare-tactics.

... Probably? [dipper is all about over-analysis but not. for that subject. sorry dirk.] I just know the cartoon crossover was the worst. It all feels kind of condescending.
