( MINGLE - WEEK 4 )

SURVIVORS: 32

The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors.

The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel.

And speaking of the buildings surrounding the motel, it seems like the Library is now open. How quaint.

As a reminder, we are now accepting murder proposals for Week 4! If you're interested in having your character commit a murder this week, be sure to send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. Remember that we can't have a murdergame without any murders, so go forth and let the bodies hit the floor.

As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions!

"Death is the great equalizer." Where I'm from, that's true. [An exhale.] The rules are different here and other places, it seems.

[A reprint? That an interesting way to phrase it.]

Wouldn't you rather be in your... "original" body? Self? What's the advantage of being a "reprint"?

It certainly has. I can't argue against that.

[And it's frustrating sometimes, because Light likes to know what the rules are.]

...Because a spirit would be able to do something that human could not. A purpose to be utilized.

Am I wrong?

[He stands to his full height after his perusing of the drawers lead to nothing. He takes a moment to turn and look at Andersen more directly, a hand on his hip.]

You don't look like much of a weapon. But before you tell me not to judge a book by its cover... That can only give you an advantage, I imagine.

[He follows him with his gaze as he moves to another desk. Light wanders over a bit closer, idle in his movements.]

So how are you expected to fight? You can't be a weapon and not a weapon at the same time.

Did someone mean to summon a more useful spirit?

Hm.

[A hm that could indicate a lot of things. "I see" or "I believe you" or "I don't trust that's true". Either way, it's rather noncommittal.]

They say everyone has a price. You don't have any lingering desires that you'd kill for?

[Going to this side of the room to check out any flat surfaces; see if there's a wayward key just lying around or anything like that.]

Ha. [He can't say he didn't expect the question to be reflected back in turn.]

Honestly? All I care about is returning home alive; it's there where I have everything I need.

Therefore, the faster we find a way to end this game, the better.

Something like that. An end goal I wanted to achieve in my own time.

[Still no sign of a key. He runs a finger across one of the cabinets, leaving smear of dust that he frowns down at.]

But... really, what I mean is that I have a perfectly good life waiting for me back home. An incentive seems redundant. And too much like a "deal with the devil" for me to not feel overly cautious towards the whole idea.

You're probably right about that. All of it is just to perpetuate this killing game further, incentives or not. Just another form of manipulation, and I don't know about you, but I hate being manipulated.

[He has too much pride for it.]

Any luck finding a key?

[He looks at the door, as if it presents itself as something of a challenge now, where it hadn't before.]

He neglected to mention how?

Then why bother telling you in the first place?

[But that's more of a rhetorical question than anything else.]

I suppose lock-picking is out of the question. I'm sure someone's tried it already.
