At exactly 11:30 am, all residents who are still asleep will be jolted awake by a sharp, burning pain that spreads across their whole body. A simple look will reveal no visible injuries, oddly enough, and the pain will fade away as soon as they're properly awake. Those early birds who are already up and about will feel nothing — except maybe a strange, mysterious sense of relief as they go on about their business. Lucky them.

Moments later, an announcement will come through the static-filled PA system:

"This is Craftly speaking. My apologies for the rude awakening [not really], but your presence is required in the Dining Hall. Our second trial is about to begin. Please do try to be there before noon. My staff members have simply too many duties to tend to, to be escorting each and every one of you out of your quarters. Good day."

And true to his words, anyone who doesn't make their way to the Dining Hall before noon will be dragged kicking and screaming regardless of where they've sequestered themselves. Sucks to be you, huh? Upon arriving there, however, residents will be given the menu, one copy of the rulebook, one pencil, one notepad, and a cheque folder. Lunch and dinner will be served at the appropriate times, and appetizers, desserts and beverages (of the non-alcoholic variety) will be available throughout the trial. All you have to do is ask one of the faceless men, and your food will be delivered to you in ten minutes or less depending on what it is.

The Dining Room itself looks about the same as it does any other day — save for the fact that the lights have been dimmed. Why this, you ask? Because the projector is now in use. Transparencies containing each resident's profile will be displayed on the pull-down screen, with one of the staff members rotating through the images every minute. The profiles of the deceased are included, and if current discussion deems it necessary to focus on one particular resident, anyone is free to ask the faceless man to pause on the appropriate profile for a while.

A small area has been sectioned off with a transparent, plastic curtain right next to the pull-down screen. Its use will become rapidly apparent once the victim's corpse has been wheeled in. Anyone who wishes to step into this area will be asked to wash their hands, and will be given a pair of latex-free gloves and a hairnet by a staff members who is stationed nearby. Residents are required to dispose of both items before returning to the dinner table; a trash bin is available outside of the curtains for this purpose.

Evidence found during the investigation, on the other hand, will be displayed in the back of the room. Two, long tables have been taken out of storage for this occasion, and any items found by the residents on Friday will be displayed here for further examination.

Finally — a clock above the pull-down screen displays the current hour. Please do remember you have until 9:00 PM to figure out whodunit and cast your vote.

Characters will be given nine (9) hours to discuss everything related to the investigation to hopefully solve the mystery behind this week's murder. No one will be allowed to leave the Dining Hall, and all characters must cast their vote before 9PM EST. You may do so on this week's voting page.

I think that's exactly what her "Mother" wants. That's why he's a viable candidate to vote for.

...to vote for him would be to play right into their hands. There's another way, and it's not going to be within the confines of this game. I'm sure of it.

You must love making assumptions about things you don't know about. Craftly is just another puppet on strings.

I know more than you think I do.

[She snickers.]

Yet not enough to save yourself.

[She narrows her eyes at her for one last glare before turning away.]

Yeah, we could try not murdering for a week. [do you hear how sarcastic her voice is yukina. do you hear it.]

I don't trust Mira an inch, but she has a point. We keep this up, we're still just tools being used in someone else's game. Whether it's her 'Mother' or Craftly, we need to do something to shake things up.

There have been rounds before us. It's highly unlikely we'd be the first to consider murdering the innskeeper. And yet, the games have continued.

Consider, sure. But maybe they all did the exact same thing we're doing now and talked themselves out of it.

If you truly think that a god would care enough to free us when we kill a puppet, I can't convince you otherwise. But um, I think all it might do is seal us here forever. If you can live with the possibly of something even worse happening to us because of your vote, then that's fine. I'm not trying to guilt you I just... honestly hope no one regrets their vote, whatever it is.

I don't think we'll be freed if Craftly dies, but I'm tired of just waiting around for the next murder and the next trial. If there's been as many rounds as you say, then what we're doing right now? Clearly isn't working either.

I know people are trying to figure this out, risking a lot to do so. I don't think their efforts are in vain.

...I'm not saying they are. [She sighs.] You know, this would be a lot easier if we could just trust everyone to not murder. If we're talking about ways to not play along with the game, pretty sure that's the best solution right there.

I agree. But... we already know there are people among us urging the game along. Mira says she was working alone. I don't know if I trust that. But there's something... that I feel like we're missing. That will come back to haunt us, I mean. The time still bothers me. But...

[In the end he shakes his head.]

...she said Marty and Rachel knew who she was and that she had to cut them loose. If they were in an alliance and she just got rid of them like that, then...I doubt it's going to be anything as simple as finding the others who were part of that group and getting rid of them. Not when she clearly couldn't care less about killing two of her own.

If she is hiding something or leaving out details, the others may be even more vicious. Certainly, those people are in the room right now, watching the bloodlust without sparing Mira a word of kindness. I can't really pinpoint why this bothers me, though. Maybe we did find everything and I'm just anxious. But...

Oh, she's clearly hiding a lot. She won't tell us the details of the ritual or why we're here or anything that might actually be useful. But...I'm getting the same feeling you are.

It feels like last week, when we caught one murderer but the other... is likely still among us even now.

I have to wonder...if Rachel and Marty saw this coming. We still don't know how Mira managed to get them to leave their rooms at all. IF they were both working with her and knew about the ritual, then...maybe they volunteered too.

She said this is a ritual. That she came here intending to sacrifice us, and that she doesn't particularly care if she dies along the way.

But not everyone chose this.

If there are others who chose to be there - we find them, we kill them, and then maybe we can make this stop.

Which is why I don't trust anything she says. But I can't really buy that every other round that came before us failed to catch all of their killers who volunteered either.

I would. If we assume that the roles are the same each time, the Ghost would have been a much bigger threat in earlier rounds... they wouldn't have gotten the marking the same way we did.

And... Mira-san seems to be a special case. She wanted recognition for what she did. She set herself up to be caught.

If previous rounds had people who were not like her in her role... then I could very easily see them going the entire time without getting caught.

It wouldn't have been that hard to catch the Ghost even without this much evidence though, especially once their numbers started dwindling. All they'd have to do is have everyone reveal their roles. Even if certain people refused or couldn't prove it, that'd still narrow it down by a lot.

...I don't think I can change your mind on this, Aloy-san. And that's... fine. But all I can say is that I think it would be foolhardy to try something like this so soon, when we only have the Ghost's word that it will work.

Oh, don't get me wrong - I don't trust Mira and I doubt voting for Craftly will change that much in the long run. [A sigh.] But things might still change. And that's...a risk I'm willing to take. If it makes me a fool, then that's fine.

...just make sure that it's a choice you're willing to stand by, if you do make it. That's all I ask.
