Promptly at 8:00 AM, both of the Grandfather clocks will begin to ring, the sound traveling to every corner of the motel. All residents will wake up as if it was any other morning. There's the usual hum from the air conditioner units and the sound of harsh wind blowing against the windows. While the sun may not have ever set, the amount of times the Grandfather clock rings makes it clear: it's time to get up and greet the brand new day.

However... something seems off. Maybe it's a shiver of cold leaving a trail of frost on your skin or a burning sensation in your chest — but it feels like something is drawing you out of your room and into the outdoor hallways.

[ well he thought it would be? they have accounted for all the murder scenes apparently. dave tenses like he usually does when hugged out of nowhere but continues his trend of not bodily shoving dirk away, even if he kind of awkwardly digs his left arm out of the hug so dirk isn't touching it. ]

M'fine. Just walked around with Vi. You should apparently get to the clinic. Most of the people with first aid are, for some reason, standin' around here.

[ yukina, dave...

I just heard, I'll go, I just—

[He couldn't do anything until he saw Dave and confirmed Dave was alive and well with his own two eyes.

He does let go of Dave though so Dave can have his space back.]

You're okay.

[He is repetitive. And stupid.]

When I saw Hibiki I was relieved but then there were more and—[He should shut up.] I'm glad you're okay.

...Sure. [ a vague statement that could be a response to basically anything in that. once he's let go of he'll recross his arms, just kind of. nodding. ]

Apparently we're not stickin' to one person dead a week. Yay.

[A pause because he knows he is being shoved away, basically, and he does want to leave, but he hates to do this unfinished. Eventually, he ends up saying,]

I'll see you later today.

Nah, let's skip it. Things seem a little hectic. Kinda doubt everyone's gonna have time for much beyond freakin' about tomorrow.

[Ok well now he's planting his feet.]

I don't want to skip it.

Sure you do. And even if you don't, I do. I'm goin' back to my room and I'm goin' the fuck to sleep.

[ without the whispers.

or, like, he is going back to his room and just playing solitaire. one of these two things will occur. ]

No, I don't. [His voice is quiet and firm and frustrated.] I spent the whole mornin' lookin' for you.

Well, you found me, mission accomplished. [ although, uh: ] Next time I'll stick around for five minutes before I book it, I guess.

[ there. problem solved!!!!!!!! ]

You know that isn't the point. [The point! Is Dirk fucking cares and worries about Dave!] I do, in fact, still feel like I need to hang out with you today. It's important to me to have that, and nothing has changed my feelings about it or shoved anything else higher up on my to-do list.

[ opens his mouth to argue, decides actually why does it even matter at this point, and closes his mouth again. ]

Fine. Five minutes tonight.

[ he has no idea if he can get away with that but he'll try. ]

[He bites the inside of his mouth.]

I want to give you more time.

I don't need it.

[ read: it is the smallest amount of time he can think of that might be acceptable and might give him the least amount of time to fuck up. ]

You can have it anyway.

Then I don't want it. You can come by 112 if you want five minutes later, otherwise go and do what you need to do. I have to redo some of my shit, so I'm gonna go now.

What I need is to make sure I've got the usual amount of time with you!

You do realize we're in public, right. [ why can't they at least pretend they're not a mess in public: a strider saga ] Will you beat it already??? There are better things to do than stand around arguin' with me about dumb shit.

Nope. I want to go back to my room, and shower, and change all my bandages, and go to bed. So I am goin' to? [ implying he is going to LEAVE actually and yeah he will just start. walking. ]

[Fine Dirk will follow him]

[ dirk as soon as he's at room 112 he will open the door and go to close it in your face so??????? ]

[Honestly he'll stay outside that door hammering all day if Dave doesn't let him in. Dave can try to outwait him. It won't work.]

[ fine but dave is taking a shower and redoing all his bandages first.

which takes like fifteen minutes tops. but then he'll try to ignore dirk for like another fifteen minutes?

he does not let dirk in but he opens the door if dirk doesn't go away and glares. ]
