SURVIVORS: 40 The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint. Welcome to Week 2's mingle, everyone! As of this week, we are now accepting murder proposals. Yeah. I've never been someone who liked flowers all that much, but the ones around here are pretty interesting. They haven't been tended to in a long time, and they look... natural, I guess could be the right word to use.

[thawedheart]

Cultivated gardens are beautiful, but seeing flowers and plants as they would be on their own is wonderful, too.

[She's in agreement there.]

And it's nice... to see something so pretty in a place like this. Everything else is so desolate, and yet... they're still able to grow here. They're stronger than you look, don't you think?

[perceptions]

[She nods.]

That's a good point. Curious how so much of this place is in ruins, but the garden remains. Maybe that means there's hope for life to grow again? Or something cheesy like that.

[thawedheart]

I'd like to believe that, even if that's not what these flowers are supposed to mean. [Yukina smiles.] But we're the only ones here, and this is our story, so... there's no "supposed to" about it, I think. We get to decide for ourselves.

[perceptions]

... [She shakes her head.] This isn't really our story. We're just the game pieces of someone else. That's how it goes in these situations.

[thawedheart]

You really think so? Because... I think we have some say in how this all turns out. Or... we will, if we try hard enough.

[perceptions]

...It's just something I know from experience. [She shrugs.] In situations like these, you're not in control of your fate. Decisions are made without your knowledge, and you don't know the impact of your choices until it might be too late.

[thawedheart]

...

[Well, that's ominous sounding.]

Have you... been in a situation like this before?

[perceptions]

Something like it. [She waves her hand a little.] It was a lot smaller than this. More personal too.

[thawedheart]

...you survived that.

[There's a bit of admiration in both Yukina's tone of voice and her expression.] You'll survive this, too.

[perceptions]

I don't know about that. I just got lucky before. [She smiles.] It's all a game of chance Yukina. Remember that. We don't know what's going to happen to any of us, and predicting is futile.

[thawedheart]

...I'll keep that in mind, thank you.

[But in the meantime, she'll just go on thinking Mira is kind of giving her this advice. I'M SORRY.]
