( MINGLE - WEEK 2 )

SURVIVORS: 40

The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors.

The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel.

And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint.

Welcome to Week 2's mingle, everyone! As of this week, we are now accepting murder proposals. If you're interested in having your character murder someone this week, please send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. We'll be contacting you on plurk over the week to finalize the details, or ask for rescheduling if necessary.

As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions!

[ But she can't inconvenience people! ]

Duel Monsters? [ She tilts her head in curiosity. ] What a shame, I would have loved to see their original forms.
crushcard: (break the borders of your corrupt mind)

[ Next time, ok.

He nods. He's just going to pick up his deck and shuffle his deck expertly before drawing the top five cards instinctively. ]

I play on the professional dueling tournament circuits. [ A smirk. ] I built and invented holographic stadiums and projectors for this purpose, back home. it's quite a spectacle to see.

[ It's a pity that there's no way to see that here because all the technology here is archaic. ]
restlessgods: (consider: that is a bad idea)

[ Now he's got her attention. ]

That's quite impressive. Could you tell me about your sport?

stop making him wax poetic about stupid card games

[personal profile] crushcard 2017-05-31 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
[ He's far from modest about his technology, actually, but considering that it's the industry standard and anything Duel Monsters related has to use Kaiba Corporation technology, it's not like he has to actively flaunt it.

Still, there's pride, even as he fans out the beginning hand that he's drawn, ignoring the crude art. ]

Duels are battles. For pride, for glory, and when you summon your monsters-- [ Here he plucks out one card from the middle of his hand, slamming Monster Card: Blood Vorse down onto the table with all the dramatic flair of someone who was used to doing it for a professional audience. ] --to fight for you as loyal vassals, when they come to life to defend your honour and crush your opponent--

[ yeah he's just. stupidly into this card game and the entire spectacle that comes with it, ok, pls forgive him. ]

Each Duelist starts with 8,000 life points. Deplete them to zero, and you win the the duel.

just as keikaku

[ It sounds a lot like chess for kids... except it's played by adults. ]

An intellectual game, I take it?

[ She'll watch. Maybe the flair was attuned to male egos, but still something intruiging to observe. ]
crushcard: (there’s no winner in this messy match)

deadeyes at you

[personal profile] crushcard 2017-05-31 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He draws another card. Considers his hand before pulling out two cards. He flips them open - Trap Card: Crush Card Virus and Magic Card: Command Silencer, before setting them down on the table once more. ]

It's a game of war. Only the finest minds deserve to be called Duelists. [ ... uh, yeah, about that elitist streak... ] Trap cards, magic cards... these buffer the playing field. Shape the terrain you battle on. Strategy is only the beginning. Cripple your opponent so that they're only left with weak, ineffectual monsters, or let them think that they've gotten the upper hand before you strike back.

[ It's... not actually just male egos, actually. Seto's just the only one who's turned Duel Monsters into gladiatorial grunge matches no matter who's fighting. Read: everyone in this stupid canon just rolls with it because they're all Extra. ]
restlessgods: (consider: that is a bad idea)

GOOD

[personal profile] restlessgods 2017-06-01 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
[ Look, she enjoys looking at Extra people. As long as they don't let their Extra interfere with their work, that is. ]

Are there any other Duelists around?
