( MINGLE - WEEK 2 )

SURVIVORS: 40

The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors.

The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel.

And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint.

Welcome to Week 2's mingle, everyone! As of this week, we are now accepting murder proposals. If you're interested in having your character murder someone this week, please send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. We'll be contacting you on plurk over the week to finalize the details, or ask for rescheduling if necessary.

As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions!

[ It's okay, Yukina. He doesn't mind your company, it's more pleasant than some of the other residents in the motel, so he'll actually look up, pause, and then fan out a starting hand of five cards in her general direction.

To be fair, she's only seeing the mostly-normal back of the cards, and not the fucking disrespectful stick figure art on the other side. ]

Duel Monsters cards. Except that Craftly has decided that the original cards are security hazards, so-- [ He flips over the cards to show her what he means. ] --I'm stuck with these.

[ The cards are going to get reshuffled into his deck again, before he draws out one card, glances at it and slams it down onto the table, face-up. Monster Card: Blade Knight, summoned in attack position.

... Please tell him he's being overly dramatic, Yukina. ]

[um]

Oh, so these are...

[...she almost... expected something more impressive than this. But, wisely, she keeps her mouth shut, focusing not on the unfortunate-looking artwork but on the cards as a whole, watching as he shuffles his deck, draws a card, and -

Damn. That was dramatic. He'd get along with Suzaku.]

Blade Knight...? [She leans forward to get a better look at the flavor text.] "When you have 1 or less cards in your hand, this card gains 400 ATK. If you control no other monsters, the effects of Flip monsters destroyed by battle with this card are negated"...

[That makes little sense to her.]

Um... what's a Flip monster?

[ THEY'RE MORE IMPRESSIVE WITH THE HOLOGRAMS, YUKINA, but he has no way to summon giant holograms so they're all just going to have to deal with normal cards, which are definitely less than impressive.

He's the one that probably started the whole dramatic card game duels thing since you know, people have had to start yelling across the field at each other??? He's also a lot more dramatic if there's actually like a giant audience, which the motel unfortunately doesn't have.

But still, he's passionate enough about Duel Monsters that he doesn't mind the question, in fact, he shifts enough so that Yukina can read the flavour text on the card. When she asks her question, Seto is flicking through his deck.

No matter, he's just going to pull out another monster card at random. ]

For each turn, I can either summon one monster in face up attack position-- [ He points to the Blade Knight card. ] --or in face down defense position. [ He reaches over to place the new card that he's drawn in front of Yukina, as if it's on her field, horizontally and with the backing facing up instead. ]

Blade Knight's effect, as I don't have any other cards in my hand-- [ He doesn't, right now, and he points to the ATK value printed on the card. ] --it now has 2,000 attack points. If I were to attack your monster, the card would be flipped face-up because of the attack.

[ He reaches over and flips over the card. It's X-Head Cannon. ]

I don't have any Flip Monsters in my deck so I can't actually show you one, but-- [ He points to the flavour text of the card. ] Flip monsters are just monsters who have effects that are triggered only when they're flipped over, with details written out there.

[ And he's going to draw the top five cards from his deck and just lay them out on the table with a flourish (listen, he's not about to just give up the dramatics) - there's different types of cards, if Yukina is inclined to ask about them. ]

this is the fate you consigned yourself to by playing a card game maniac...

It's so detailed...

[you lucked out because i lost my first draft of this tag to a connection glitch and am way too tired to write out everything i had before, so this time yukina will be asking like 3 fewer questions

She examines the cards he lays out with interest, though, reading the descriptions with wide eyes, before she looks up at him with a smile.]

There are even Trap cards, too... so it's not just your opponent's monsters that you need to worry about? What an interesting game!
