( MINGLE - WEEK 2 )

SURVIVORS: 40 The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint. Welcome to Week 2's mingle, everyone! As of this week, we are now accepting murder proposals. [at this point, she's not bothering to hide how frazzled she looks.]

Sleeping's not really on my list of priorities, but... thanks for the offer, anyway.

[she doesn't deny that she casts a look toward the drink with the tiniest bit of suspicion, but it goes away pretty quickly; would a killer in their midst really do it in plain sight like this?]

[ He sure does catch that suspicious look there. But he tiredly laughs it off. ]

It's chamomile tea. I figured if people were on edge from the nightmares or voices... Might as well try it.

[ He pours himself a cup at any rate, letting it cool down. ]

Can I ask what's on your priorities?

[well, at least he's drinking it himself...]

If you asked me a week ago, probably finding a way out of here and back home.

Now... just surviving.

You shouldn't give up on that first part! I suppose that requires surviving too though, huh.

[ He sips his tea calmly. See? Not poison. But he can't pretend it's super great... ]

Would you like some fresh food? That's why your're here, I'd assume.

Honestly, I didn't even know I was headed for the kitchen...

[she rubs the back of her head with one hand, stretching with the other.]

I've been zoning out a lot in the past couple of days... probably because I haven't been able to sleep.

You wouldn't be alone... I could use some rest.

[ A thought comes to mind, showing as worry on his face. ]

If we're like this... we're easier targets, aren't we.

Aren't we easier targets when we're sleeping, too, though?

Oh, but I guess that's probably why the curfew is in place...

I feel like the rooms are secure, but having someone on these days is good just in case.

[ Puts had to chin. ]

If you live to see Friday, then you also have an alibi.

Y'know, saying it so casually like that reminds me how messed up this place is.

If only I could go to sleep and wake up in my own bed, back home, like this was all just some kind of sick and twisted dream...
