( MINGLE - WEEK 2 )

SURVIVORS: 40

The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors.

The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel.

And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint.

Welcome to Week 2's mingle, everyone! As of this week, we are now accepting murder proposals. If you're interested in having your character murder someone this week, please send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. We'll be contacting you on plurk over the week to finalize the details, or ask for rescheduling if necessary.

As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions!

[She looks down, her cheeks warming with embarrassment. She's aware that it's not the most... productive thought to be having. Cookies sound nice, but they won't fix anything.

She's quite readily distracted from it when Heather clutches her head, and she reaches out to her, her brows furrowing in concern.]

Are you okay...?

[...the voices?]

...I don't think it's a waste... if you do manage to get it right, and you feel better, won't that be worth it?

—I'm fine.

[ it's curt. truth be told, she had been having migraines a lot lately — even before coming to Yuggoth. the whispers just exacerbated it. this whole week was basically an overlong migraine. she holds her hand up as a gentle way of saying 'please don't touch me'. ]

I don't know why I even thought it'd make me feel better. Maybe just more.. connected. To myself.

[ she's not really sure what she's saying either, it just sounds right. ]

.. Can you draw something? I think.. I'd feel a little better, to watch someone else.

[Yukina doesn't really understand, but... she doesn't need to, does she? If it's what Heather thought, it's what Heather thought. So she nods slowly, and uncaps a marker once she makes her request.]

Sure.

[Though she... doesn't really know what to try to draw. She's not the best artist in the world, but she'll try.

...it's a bird.]

[ heather watches yukina's hand closely as she draws, listens to the sounds the marker makes as it skids and squeaks. she isn't really paying attention to her technique or even what she's sketching, just the motions and the noise. it helped soothe her a bit.

when yukina is done, though, she notices that it's a pretty cute little bird. ]

Thanks. [ a beat. ] .. Why a bird?
thawedheart: (this is... fine.......)

You're welcome.

[She caps the marker once she's finished, then sits back to examine her handiwork.

It's not the most detailed, accurate drawing, but... she's happy with it, she supposes. And it's giving Heather something to think about that isn't how unsettled she feels, so that's a plus.]

Oh? Um... because I like birds, I guess. [She smiles.] A long time ago, when I was at my most lonely... they kept me company. It's a shame we haven't seen any here.

Oh. Hm.. [ a sound of bemusement. that's kind of tragic, but nice at the same time. she could relate to it — it reminded her of time with her dad. ephemeral and taken for granted. ] Who knows? Maybe they'll come save you again.

Well, at least they don't wake us up in the morning. Not that there is a morning, really..
thawedheart: (what on earth just happened)

[personal profile] thawedheart 2017-06-03 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
...that would be nice.

[Or horrible, because who knows what would happen to birds in a place like this? They'd probably get accosted by horrorterrors.

...but it's a nice though, and she smiles a little as she imagines it.]

It's a little weird, don't you think? This... perpetual twilight. I've never seen anything like it before.
