 The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint. Welcome to Week 2's mingle, everyone! As of this week, we are now accepting murder proposals. If you're interested in having your character murder someone this week, please send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. We'll be contacting you on plurk over the week to finalize the details, or ask for rescheduling if necessary. [ they're both picking on him at the same time, because hajime can't help but enjoy the people around her even in dreary times like this. heather pins up her handmade tarot cards and hajime looks at it the set like it's a masterpiece. it'll get more color, eventually; some crepe paper, some stickers, some glitter, something to make it really pop so that no one feels left out. idly, she wonders if hana and jason can see this. she hopes so. ]
If it was a real ambush, then maybe he'd scream louder, like in the movies!! Right now, though, that was good. Akii could work on his reflexes a little, though. Wanna catch?

[ sweatdrops. he doesn't expect a literal ambush of papercraft and now two attractive girls. there are worse fates to be shared, but. still. Akira pushes his brand spankin' new glasses up his nose as he pinches one of the tarot cards in between his fingers, bringing it to his face to inspect more closely. and yes, he probably just jacked it up right after Heather went and fixed it. ]
My reflexes are top notch, actually. [ ask his teachers!! ] I'm just getting used to glasses again.
[ ... it's only been like two days without them, but that's the excuse he is sticking with. he won't admit that he's distracted with his thoughts. nope. ] Sure. Bring it on. [ HE'LL CATCH WHATEVER YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR HIM. that's not weird at all. ]

[ and heather does her best to make a gong noise with her voice. it doesn't work super well. akira is further assailed when heather reaches forth and grabs the tarot card right from under him. ]

I wouldn't say this is our tournament, though...? Kiiiiiind of morbid, I think, but not in a bad way. [ what does she even mean, one might wonder. hajime imagines forgetting the morbidity of the situation would be a disservice to the dead, but whether that's clear or not is ambiguous. ] If your reflexes are good, does that make you Scorpion?

Akira extends his arm in perfect timing, almost as if he is a kung-fu master in how his fingers remain pointed towards the ceiling and how his elbow is bent at an angle. the piece of paper is deflected towards the ground just as Heather makes the gong noise with her mouth. a weird noise to make with one's mouth, honestly. also, good luck explaining Mortal Kombat to this kid. he probably has some gory, Japanese equivalent back at home. ]
Does that make me a Scorpio? No, I don't think so... Besides, I thought we were looking at tarot cards, not zodiac signs. [ c'mon, Hajime, get with the picture. he's back to looking at said tarot card as Heather swipes it away from. with a brief pout: ] I know a decent amount. I befriended a fortune teller that swindled me of my fortune.

[ she wasn't expecting him to be so adept. her throw was lazy, but she figured it would catch him off guard — akira surprised her on this day. she slow claps for him. ]
They are tarot cards. [ she's not sure how they ended up on zodiac signs, honestly. ] That sounds pretty unfortunate, considering her profession. [ ba dum tish ] I guess I wanted to honor the people that died.. and do something to feel connected to myself again. That probably doesn't make a lot of sense.

[ noooow they're back on the tarot cards she's got hanging, and he's definitely more attentive towards that than anything else. arcana has a certain... affinity with him, even if he doesn't fully understand the concept personally. the joke is enough to make a breathless laugh escape Akira, but he's back to looking at Heather when she questions how much sense she is making. ]
