( MINGLE - WEEK 2 )

SURVIVORS: 40 The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint. Welcome to Week 2's mingle, everyone! As of this week, we are now accepting murder proposals. Oh I'd fork it over in a heartbeat if someone needed it! I don't think the knife owners will, though.

[Since a knife is a much better weapon than a scalpel.]

Yeah? Well, now that it's not in the right place, they won't know where to go if they actually need a scalpel.

[Velvet frowns and lets out a little huff.]

But unfortunately, you're probably right about that. No one's decided to help me, at least.

[He pouts because now he feels bad that he took a scalpel. She has a point though. He makes a note to return it later.]

Well, I'm sorry. If I had such an implement that could dice up an apple, I would hand it over. What sort of dish were you trying to make?

I cook at least three times a day. No matter what I end up making, I'll need knives. The apple was just an example.

Hmmm, well, I noticed there are request forms on the front desk. I know it says "no weapons" but... maybe you can request the knife be, um, tied to a rope in the kitchen or something so no one can take it and use it for any other purpose?

[breaksouls]

Yeah, I'm gonna try it, but knowing this place... I doubt I'll get what I want. But they're still preparing food so there must be other knives somewhere.

Oh, I hadn't thought to wonder how they were still cooking. That is a good point. There must be some way of obtaining access to a cooking knife, specifically for cooking. I'm sure if you make that clear, they'll figure out something for you. While I have... many issues with this place, they do seem to mean it that they want to be accommodating.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. Or maybe I could threaten one of those faceless daemons into giving me theirs.

I don't know if they care much about being threatened. Or if they do, what consequences could befall you.

So maybe I should just follow one of them? Watch their every move?

That's a brilliant idea, Velvet! They're bound to bring out a knife eventually and you'll find out where they're keeping all of them!
