( MINGLE - WEEK 2 )

SURVIVORS: 40 The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint. Welcome to Week 2's mingle, everyone! As of this week, we are now accepting murder proposals. Yeah, exactly! Beating Craftly at his own game may be not to play it. The hard part is convincing everyone else.

If I had my powers back, it'd be a snap, and I bet between for a few other people, we could burn this place to the ground. But if he's got control over powers, it's probably more about outsmarting him.

Right! I ... don't have any powers so I can't relate there, and also, please tell me all about those later, but-- outsmarting a demon or whatever the heck it is? That I can do.

I'm a witch and psychic!

[ she's ready for your ooohs and ahhhhs ]

I used to be able to float everywhere and use pyrokinesis and telekinesis and-- let's see, I didn't get clairvoyance, but I missed out on a lot of things on my mom's side. I could perform illusions and spells and hexes too. To be honest, it's actually really tiring walking everywhere now. It also means I'm missing out on setting this whole place on fire.

[ Can't have a murder hotel without the hotel right??? ]

[his eyes are wide and he looks as excited as a child in a candy store, that's nearly as good as ooohs and aaahs ou tloud, right??]

That's so many powers, oh my gosh. You said on your mom's side? So was one side of your family psychic and the other one witches? How does that work? Is it genetics or do they have to teach you? How are your leg muscles not atrophied if you floated everywhere?? [--wait] ... Also, you were going to set this place on fire with everyone out of it, right? Don't set this place on fire with everyone in it.

I was going to get everyone out, don't worry! [ She waves her hand dismissively. ]

I'm a witch on my mother's side. My father is a psychic. I was born with natural talents but I had to be taught to use them! My dad is the only parent in my life, so I'm less proficient as a witch, but I can still cast spells! Or did-- and you know, that's a really good point, my legs are kind of sore since getting here... but my friend would make me take hikes with her so they're not completely weak. Plus, sometimes I have to be incognito.

Does that answer everything?

Whew. Okay. Well, in that case, nothing is technically stopping us from setting this place on fire the old fashioned way. [DIPPER?????]

Yes, that answered those questions. [im so sorry] Okay, so, you can cast spell because you're related to witches, but does that mean it's not something you could teach someone else at all? Are they like chants or just words? If you thought them to someone else who couldn't use witch magic, they wouldn't work?

... we should try it. The lighter was stolen, right? We gotta get someone to fess up and then get everyone out of here. [ She gives a low whistle. ] Maybe there's flammables in the kitchen.

I can't teach my witchly powers to anyone else-- there's a difference between human practitioners and witches-by-blood. Humans do stuff like wrap up sage and burn it to cleanse themselves. Witches can change time and reality as they see fit! It's neat.

I was joking. [yikes] There's probably a sprinkler system in the motel, or some kind of magic that would stop us from just straight up setting it on fire. [implying that otherwise it'd be a good plan. uh. well then.]

Time and reality? That sounds intense. [and more like a demon but maybe witches vary by dimension] So what kind of witchy thing can you do normally? You said you don't have all the knowledge for witch stuff.

Probably, but fire is usually a good solution to problems like this!

Well, usually I could drop in on a party like this. I've got a sixth sense for abnormalities like this. Unfortunately, I'm just entangled in it... it wasn't deliberate. To strip a witch of their powers is serious business... I don't think it's ever been done. I don't like being the first, that's for certain.

Whoever's actually in charge and put us all here has got to be some kind of weird, all-powerful ... whatever. I thought that even before that whole taking away "powers" deal, but this just confirms it. Not looking too good when it comes to just. Fighting our way out.
