( MINGLE - WEEK 2 )
![]() The sun is shining, the air conditioner units hum as they always do, and a gentle morning breeze blows against the windows. The scent of pine cones and evergreen follow you wherever you go in the motel, save for the parking lot and outdoor pool. It seems like someone was very generous with the detergent while moping the floors. The two grandfather clocks (one on each floor) will ring with each passing hour, indicating the time of day without fail. With this knowledge — they'll note the motel will continue to be surrounded by fog until 8:00 AM on the dot. It is at that hour that the fog will begin to recede. Not enough to reveal the whole city, but enough to allow residents to explore some of the buildings surrounding the motel. And speaking of the motel, it seems like the Storage room has unlocked itself overnight. How quaint. Welcome to Week 2's mingle, everyone! As of this week, we are now accepting murder proposals. If you're interested in having your character murder someone this week, please send in your proposal before Tuesday, 9:00 PM EST. We'll be contacting you on plurk over the week to finalize the details, or ask for rescheduling if necessary. As always, feel free to PM us or send us a PP over plurk if you have any questions! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation |

[He presses his lips together, face threaded with hesitation when it comes to talking about another murder. It feels too soon, as if they haven't had time to recover from this one yet. How intense this game was becoming.]
Yes. Did you see the message in the lounge?

[ heather bites her lip, pulling out a slip of paper with a doodle on it in pen. it's a strange, arcane looking thing. ]
The symbol that was on it. It reminded me of something I'd seen before.. —In a magazine. [ she stammers that last bit out. ] I used to read up on occult stuff for fun. Not that it's really related, it was just.. a weird coincidence.

It may be more relevant than you think. After all, the occult hints at supernatural workings -- I think it's fair to say that the Ghost's abilities may work in mostly unconventional ways. [Meaning, not something explained away by rational thought. This was probably in fact very supernatural, given everything they've seen so far.]
What concerns me more is the fact that they hinted at working with others. I hope this isn't the precursor of some dark ritual, or something equally terrifying.

[ and that was her greatest fear. losing her grip. ]
There's gotta be more. The lone wolf always dies alone. There'd be almost no chance of them succeeding again and again, if their goal is to just kill as many people as possible in this super specific way. Mystical or not, I doubt you could be that lucky even with the supernatural on your side.

Actually, no. He can concede that much... up to a reasonable point.]
If there's no indication of how they do it, then they may succeed more than once. We can only hope that we were given some kind of clue in what we saw in the lounge... that, or unearth it ourselves. An incompetent detective can't hope to catch an invisible killer, after all.
You don't think we'd be able to tell if our minds were being influenced? For instance, these whispers.... [Ugh.] They're annoying, but I'm very cognizant of them.

[ it was a lot to ask for, but she didn't see the point in having this elaborate set up if they were doomed anyway. why not just massacre them? ]
Hana didn't seem like she knew.
[ no, with how resistant she is.. it was scary. ]

[He hesitates, though. She's right, of course, Hana didn't know.]
Maybe she didn't know what to look for. We can only hope that everyone is going to be ten times more self-aware than before, knowing there's someone out there who can literally possess another.
